Should the final episode be called....

"The Long Con?" I know they used it already but I have a feeling that in the end thats what Lost will be. Either the setup or the answer will have been a series long Con against us viewers.

Nope...as I said elsewhere, JJabrams owes much of his clout in hollywood to this show. If it ends up like TWIN PEAKS--XFILES, and even nuBSG, where a great many consider it a washout, then he gets tarnished too. And I think he cares about such things.

We will know very soon...

I didn't mean it that harshly, what I ment was that the Con was the entire setup. Not that they are pulling a Con against us, the viewers. That we were not privy to the larger Con.

Oh...sorry about that. Wow....it would really depend on how they write that. But if it ends with Jack taking a shower a day before the plane crash, I'm going to be pissed!!! Or maybe they'll do a NEWHART kind of ending, and Jack will wake up and still be on Party of Five telling this as a story to Jennifer Love Hewett!

All they really need for a reasonable conclusion is:

1. The flashsideways people are the same people as the regular story people. Not mirror universe doubles or whatnot.

2. Regardless of whether they have lived or died to date, we need emotionally resonant and suitable endings to the stories of everyone that matters. Jack, Locke and Sawyer matter; Miles, Illiana and Lapidus don't. Where you draw the line is a matter of taste, and I know they can't do everything in the time left, but they should get in the important stories anyway.

3. Resurrect characters who need to be resurrected to finish their stories. Michael, Charlie and Juliet can stay dead; Locke and the Kwons need resurrection. Sayid could go either way. I'd like to see Boone back as a wild card.

4. Defeat Smokey for good.

5. Leave someone on the island as the eternal protector. We all think it'll be Jack, which is why it should be Locke - real Locke.

Wow. That's a pretty hefty list. I guess I'll stop there and not worry about hairbrushes. :D

I don't think JJ's been directly involved with the show for a long, long time. It seems to be the Damon and Carlton (and a Polar Bear) Show now.
