Would Quinto absorb Ellison's writing talent in the process? And more importantly, could he then claim proprietary rights over the characters and concepts used in "The City on the Edge of Forever"?

I am not sure what the WGA policy is on plot-lines absorbed through brain-eating. Now I am quite sure the executives wouldn't have a problem with it, since they are all flesh eating zombies, but I doubt they would let the writers' near the banquet of human carnage.

Most contracts have boilerplate clauses which address plot-lines absorbed through brain-eating. They are fairly standard, but not often used. It will be interesting to see if this stuff starts getting litigated now because of the strike.
