Well, I don't think it was ever said that this should be administered surreptitiously. It's more likely that the victims would be henpecked into using it.

However the OCP & HRT over-ride the body's natural programming, not correct problems like treatment for diabetes or anti-hypertensives do.Yeah, if things in the body always worked in harmony, we'd never need drugs of any kind.

Wouldn't that indicate that there was no need to use it then?Well, I don't think it was ever said that this should be administered surreptitiously. It's more likely that the victims would be henpecked into using it.
We're products of evolution, our current state being the result of millions of years and trial and error. Our bodies are not perfect by any means. They screw up a lot. Menopause is just one of those screwups that will happen to anyone of the female persuasion. Women go through menopause because they're only born with so many eggs. The number was sufficient for the majority of human history--most women would die well before reaching menopause--but now most women live long enough to run out of eggs and go through the hormonal changes of menopause. Likewise, the quality of one's eggs declines as you get older. None of this is part of some grand design, but rather artifacts of our evolutionary history.
That is not to say HRT is a great idea, as there are studies indicating it causes various problems. But there are other remedies women use to treat the symptoms of menopause, too. Just because it is a natural process doesn't mean women should have to suffer through it unaided.

Thank you a) for telling us about our bodies because we didn't know and b) for letting us know you don't think we should suffer because we weren't sure.
Robertmaxwell,
I come from a line of women who on average, reach 85yo (including my great great grandmother born in 1865).
Oh yeah, when you're a 49yo woman who has at various stages taken these hormones, had any, some or many of the side effects, then you can speak on the subject.

My response wasn't directed at you, in case you didn't notice.

Yeah, whatever. Thanks for failing to address anything I said. Bye-bye now.
What have I failed to address?
Human females living 30-40 years past their childbearing is not a new phenomenon is the point that I was making. The medicalization of this process is.
Menopause as a screwup? Certainly wasn't described that way in any my classes. It was referred to as a natural part of the aging process.
BTW: Thanks for explaining menopause to me, being a 49yo woman, - I had no idea what it is that I'm currently living through...

People take all sorts of drugs and medications because they're not happy with what they're feeling. Sometimes it's appropriate and sometimes it's not. I don't see any difference with this particular substance.Wouldn't that indicate that there was no need to use it then?Well, I don't think it was ever said that this should be administered surreptitiously. Welcome to the world of relationships.Which is just as unfortunate, really. Whether it be a trick, or a threat, it indicates a lack of trust.
I don't get it, either. He was absolutely right. Why ya'll jumping down his throat? Everything he said was accurate.
