No. I think it would be grotesque to try to fit in old footage or, god forbid, a CGI creation. The best tribute to Leonard Nimoy (and those who went before him) is to create something fresh.

When Larry Hagman passed away during the second season of Dallas the creators of the series were able to include him in a convincing manner with cutting room floor footage. If such footage of Mr Nimoy exists it would be wonderful to see him one last time...Of coarse we don't know what the script is or if there was a part written for him

To create old Spocks remains for a funeral scene, maybe. Even then, preferably not.

It's unfortunate that Nimoys last involvement with Star Trek was such a crappy scene, but some mistakes just can't be fixed.

During the film, reference is made to Spock's work being a success setting up New Vulcan.

Then, post credits :

New Vulcan - a wormhole opens and a 'jellyfish' ship appears. Onboard ship, view from over the pilots shoulder as he opens a video link to the planet. Nimoy Spock appears on screen as the pilot says 'Spock - I've been looking for you !'. Spock's eyebrow rises - 'Jim ? But you were...'
Change of viewpoint to see the pilot is a grinning Shatner Kirk. 'Yes, it's been quite a journey - now pack a bag, you're leaving !'

Fade to 'The Adventure Continues...'

Or something like that...

I wouldn't mind them mentioning Spock Prime's passing into the story somehow. Maybe Spock is returning from that as the film opens or something.

No, just a tribute in the titles. If they added a CG version either voiced by someone else, or using old material, I think I'd be reminded of those terrible "Bruce Lee" films that were made in the 70s.

No, his character deserves to go out with an appearance that isn't stitched together or reappropriated from elsewhere. The end of Star Trek (11) would have been a pretty good last word.

As for killing off his character, I don't see the need for that at present. Let people assume that he's continuing to do good works. In fact, I don't think he needs to be referenced in the next movie at all.

Again, only if the scenes have already been shot.. no effects smoke n mirrors..

IF none available..then a simple "in memory of our friend Leonard Nimoy"

I would have really enjoyed Leonard Nimoy to appear because I was hoping for some emphasis on the Vulcan people in the new movie. One thing I always loved about the original TOS movies was that we often had an idea of what was going on in the Federation; we got to see interstellar politics at work. I was hoping for a continuation of that after the destruction of Vulcan.

However, with Nimoy gone, and with STID pretty much ignoring that storyline, I'm not really interested in seeing any more of it. Nimoy got to pass the torch in ST09, and he got a nice little cameo in STID, but at this point, unless the character is going to play an integral role in the story, I'd rather he be left out.

NOW, one thing I could potentially see is a funeral scene or something for Spock Prime with all the characters in attendance, perhaps with a photo of him. If handled properly, it could serve as a nice tribute.

I hope they don't kill off Spock Prime via a funeral or line of dialogue. We've already had the death of Spock and I'd prefer him to live on

His memory lives on New Vulcan. I hope it will continue to do so until the last ST movie.

The only way it could work is just to have a passing mention of him. It sucks that Nimoy passed on, but I don't know if it would work. It only worked for Superman Returns because there was a need for it.
