Should JMS be given credit with Behr, Berman, Piller, Moore etc

^ Agree 100% with both of the two previous posters.

I think both JMS and the DS9 writers have proven themselves on other projects...and I think that, especially with all of the more recent not-so-great scifi shows out there, fans should be happy to have a ton of older shows they can watch, enjoy, and be happy about. And most certainly both DS9 and B5 fall into that category.

I say, enjoy them both! Regardless of what did or didn't happen between JMS and the DS9 writers, we fans were the beneficiaries of two great shows!

Yay us!

These types of debates divides sci-fi fandom when we should be united.

To what end? Are we going to field a Presidential candidate?

That would be kind of cool. Just not Shatner. Or Jerry Doyle.

Seriously, I see the majority are in agreement that this debate is played out and pointless, yet we still are intertaining those that wish to keep this conflict going. Why?

Ah, but should the minority who wish to debate it bow to the whims of a majority who could simply ignore the argument? ;) This is the internet; and if a decade old claim can't be batted around with the ferocity to such TV arcana that only we nerds can bring; what is the point of places like this?

Too answer the first question: Yes, because they're WRONG!!!!!

As for the second: I personally think many are asking themselves that same question lately.

If there is nothing new under the sun being debated, why are we still here?;)

That may be true for some debates, but this particular one has been one of the most bitter to 'grace' these boards over the years. And as a rule, we shut these threads down before they even get started. Over the years, Neroon and I have devoted a tremendous amount of time and consideration to this issue, and we really cannot see much of anything positive that comes out of dredging up a decade-old debate that cannot be won and causes nothing but hard feelings and often, a string of warnings in the utility.

There are some debates worth having, but believe me, this isn't one of them. The cost/benefit simply isn't there for anyone...except for the trolls who bring it up or participate simply to stir the pot and pit fan against fan for sport.

So while I generally agree with you...this topic is one of those exceptions, and when we allow it at all, we watch it VERY, very carefully.

Neroon and I have been there, done that, and got two entire CLOSETS full of tee-shirts related to this issue...and we are soooooo not in the market for any more. :p

I want a teddy bear with a T-Shirt. The one with the initials 'J.S.' ;)

Naturally; and I recognise its potential to become pretty unpleasant.
