Should Janeway have had another alien baby?

Kio

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I'm not talking about another salamander tadpole creature, I mean Q's baby. If she'd accepted his offer, she could have gotten the crew home, explored the universe, and might have had a huge positive influence through the Q. On the downside, she didn't really like or trust Q. Not knowing much about the Q, it might be a risky move, but she seemed adventurous enough to take it on.

She did want a child and she might have been stuck in space for the next 70 years. Assuming artificial insemination, do you think it would have ruined the integrity of the character if she were to have a Q baby? It's great that she sticks to principles, but she turned down literally everything she wanted, including the baby itself.

I don't think it would have been very realistic for her to have Q's baby. As you stated above, Q could not be trusted. Whatever hopes she could have in having a Q baby (i.e. getting that baby to send her home) would most likely not be fulfilled. Besides, if Janeway would have had a Q baby then she would have no idea how it would turn out. For all she knew she could give birth to a John de Lancie copy cat Q. She had no way of knowing if she'd actually be pregnant for nine months and then raise a child at the same rate as a human child. And we definitely saw that q grew up faster a lot quicker than a human would have (though you could argue that it might have taken longer if half of its DNA was human).

I see what you're saying but it would have been a pretty quick ending to the show! For the sake of syndication the offer had to be refused. ;)

Any hopes for a generally rosy future would have been iffy, but the crew going home was a certainty (I think). It was established that the Q don't lie, and I could have sworn that the adult Q assured Janeway that the crew would have gotten home as a part of the deal. Maybe I'm mixing that up with another Q episode. I thought there was a decent chance she'd be happy. Remember when Q went off with Picard's old flame? That seemed like a good time for everyone.

And yeah, her baby could have been a mini de Lancie. :)

 I know, I thought about that, too. What if we say that Mulgrew stars in a spin-off and there's an entertaining Tuvok/Chakotay power struggle?

I'd watch those two read from the yellow pages so sure! :)

"Q' could make Jane way do anything if he wanted to. The whole "Q Sex" was kinda silly, IMHO.

I think it would have been totaly against her character to have a baby with Q. And Q has had a long established history of being one who is not trustworthy
