With the Synths being a new form of life, such life would undoubtedly, evolve. Should a holographic program, such as Voyagers EMH, be allowed to incorporate it's programing with the shell of an android?

What kind of 'living rights', if any, should this new type of Holographic Interface/Mechanical Interface be given? Or should they be regulated to simple ship based functions. such as the Doctor?

Should they be allowed to grow old and die or should they be allowed to be the torch bearers of the Federation carrying the Flame of the Federation deep into parts unknown?

If they’re sentient and sapient, they should have the same rights as biologicals, full stop.

Apparently, this doesn't happen even in the 32nd century.
