Should Han have died at the end of Return of the Jedi?

Han dying definitely would have continued the theme of making Leia's life as miserable as possible.

ANH: So your planet, filled with virtually everyone you knew and have ever loved has been completely destroyed, but looking at the silver lining at least you've got two friends (and maybe more) in Han and Luke.

ESB: Yeah, you saw the love of your life taken away, and you may never see him again... but hey he might still be alive, right? And Luke's still alive, without an arm, but that's.

ROTJ: Well, uh... um.... the man you loved is definitely dead... true. But... but the Empire's crippled, and you found out Luke's your brother, so while you guys can't obviously hook up, you can hang out and reminisce about your dad... who helped to kill your other dad, and your other mom, and all your friends...

Hey, BBQ with Ewoks, that's gotta be awesome.

Do you think it would have been better if Han died?

I'm glad they went with a happy ending for Han. I think many fans would have been pissed that one of the most interesting characters in the film was offed. What is it with actors wanting to kill off their characters? It was one of the things that really angered me about Alien 3.

It could be fan fiction or canon fiction but I remember reading some where that someone had dreamed up a more nefarious future for Solo. He and Lea would have a child and that child would bring rise to the return of the Siths? And Solo would be forced to fight his own child bringing the story full circle.

Anyone remember that?

Yeah, it was the plot (more or less) of FATE OF THE JEDI, wasn't it?
