Should DS9 have ended with the Federation LOSING the Dominion War?

Paramount couldn't wait to to tear down the DS9 sets and Voyager and the TNG movies were going to just go on random adventures. I think they knew they had to end the conflict with finality and tie up every loose end.

And this is where I don't understand Paramount. I can understand the TNG movies, but Voyager just doesn't make any sense to me. I haven't seen the entire series, TNG neither, but it didn't seem like it was worth it to make movies afterward. Does anybody know if they were profitable. I can think of Generations and First Contact, but I can't name one Voyager movie. :alienblush:

Another thing is, knowing the serial/episodic mix of the show, I think a DS9 movie or set of movies would have been very satisfying. DS9 wasn't as mainstream as TNG, so I'm guessing that's why it didn't happen.

It also has to be said that the Dominion couldn't win the war because they initially intended to make Sisqo a prophet and leave Cassidy and Jake forever. That would have been really piling on the sadness.

I just love the ending scene when Jake and Kira are standing next to each other, looking off into the stars where their loved ones are. :)

Actually I could see the Prophets being cold enough to snatch Sisko away right when he was needed by Starfleet the most.

"Why did you bring me here? I was commanding a thousand ships making a final stand against The Dominion, they're all waiting for my orders"

"You are The Sisko, we couldn't allow the Sisko to be killed"

"Well, put me back, I need to win this fight or Billions will die"

"You are The Sisko, we can't allow The Sisko to be killed"

....

@Spock/Uhura Fan, no, there were no Voyager Movies. There were 6 movies for The Original Kirk/Spock/McCoy Series, and 4 Movies for the TNG period. The Fourth Movie (STX: Nemesis) was a box office flop, and that pretty much ended the Movies until JJ Abrams released ST09.

Oh, then I think I misunderstood the other person's post. I thought they were saying that there were movies for Voyager as well as TNG. Makes sense then why I can't think of any. I saw Nemesis; it just wasn't that memorable to me.
