Should a Muslim be cast for the film?

I would rather see a gay guy before a Muslim.
I second rather seeing a gay guy. Preferably attractive and a good guy.
They should cast a wheelchair bound African American Mormon lesbian undergoing a sex change operation who's also an alcoholic for a role here. Di-verse-ii-taay!
I would like to see a crew cast because they were right for the job and the character written because its right for the story, who knows red shirt no3 might be a gay Muslim..why do we need to know of these facts unless it serves the story.
Casting a Russian character is one thing but there is going too far...what we should be asking is should there be an Asian character cast for the movie (doesnt matter if he is Muslim, Christian, Busist or Atheiest long as its a good character and cast well it doesn matter about skin colour or religious beliefs...thats what I want to be in this film!

I dont really care either way as long as there's no bad acting involved.
Though it is worth noting that Star Trek didn't 'select the best actor' the part, it made a specific point of having Uhura be black and having Chekov be Russian. He was a russian for a very specific political and social reasons, and the same with Uhura.
This is what some people NOW would probably decry as "oh nooo Its PC
". So Star Trek has a history of this.
The only real problem is say, having a muslim or a gay (or a gay muslim how about that), is that it's sort of late to be making a statement. The time to have a gay character would have been... season 2 of TNG.
BUt yeah it wouldn't bother me, I have no problem with producers casting for the purposes of diversity, it doesn't make me angry in the least nor does it bother me if they go for only the best actor they can find which basically means mostly all white since they are a majority of the acting pool.

Chances are there at least several Muslim extras and crewmembers on the film already.
If you mean Muslim character though, I can't say I care too much either way. We're all humans, remeber? Obviously not all Muslims are brainwashed cult members like the terrorists are.
I think we can handle it and it won't negatively impact the movie's profits unless it's totally extraneous with no point. Which it probably would be, now that I think about it.

It doesnt mean they will this time though, times are different, what showed social diversity back then could easily come over as attempting to appease social groups now...plus if you start saying this person believes in religion x all the other religions will moan that they are not represented. In this case they will likely keep the status quo and avoid the issue.
This being so I still think its possible they could have a minor character with a middle east family background
