Imagine one of those cardboard box theatres - the ones with characters on sticks manipulated from outside the box (don't know if there's an official designation for it). Essentially, "3D" cinema is just this, a high tech method of tricking your brain into seeing layered 2D images - sending you cross eyed in the process! For me, it's all gimmick - and is rarely worthy or particularly effective.I'm blind in one eye, so 3D does nothing for me unfortunately.

Yes, movies shot 3D native can certainly provide a more dynamic rendering of the effect, but nevertheless, it's exactly the same - a process that fools your brain into viewing layered 2D images.
