Shore Leave 2011

Mike Winters

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Does anyone have a list of what books are going to be available to buy at Shore Leave? I know there is usually a couple of early releases available for lucky fans to buy.

Star Trek Vanguard: Declassified and Greg Cox's Warehouse 13 novel should both be on sale at the convention.

Maybe. Maybe not. Now that there are no editors from S&S in attendance, there aren't really any big annual announcements anymore. News just tends to dribble out when it becomes available.

Dave,

I...um, while I was in the field I kind...*cough*...lost my copy of Harbinger...*holding head in shame*...will there be copies there?

To the best of my knowledge Pocket has not made arrangements for any schedule announcements or early books for sale.

The local bookdealer and his cute staff will be on hand and have been provided with lists of the authors' in-print titles so he can order accordingly. He's usually well-stocked so fans should not be disappointed.

I know I want an autographed Warehouse 13 book.

I'm actually hoping to get Eddie McClintock to autograph mine!

And apparently there's going to be a different bookseller selling books at the Friday night event this year. Constellation Books, a local independent bookseller.

I agree. I never made it to one of the conventions, but I still looked forward to all of the announcements that came out of it.

I Always looked forward to the book list announcements for the upcoming books coming out the next year, I still hope we'll get some news about the books coming out in 2012 .I hope we'll have a few more DS9 and Enterprise novels. .

Could any of you (the authors or freelance editors, I mean) get permission to give said announcement of 2012's books?

Based on everything that's been said in the past, I doubt there is anything for them to give. It's my understanding that Marco used to hold back information so that he could release a bunch at Shore Leave. Instead, authors are releasing information on their own. So, by the old standard, we wouldn't have found out about David Mack's trilogy, DRG3's books, Christopher's novella and novel, Greg's TOS book, etc, until Shore Leave, but instead we know about them already.

I don't have any to give except for my own projects that are already announced.

Last year, in lieu of the Shore Leave announcement, we got an announcement of the coming year's schedule in Star Trek Magazine around the same time. I don't know if something similar is being done this year, though.

I'm hoping we might hear of the topic of David Mack's new trilogy; other than the fact that it's 24th Century and *possibly* the Ent-E crew, we don't know anything. I'm hoping for a teaser blurb but who knows.
