Out of curiosity, how often has anyone encountered sold out shows in the last few years? I keep hearing people say that the enormous number of screens that big movies open on these days has caused the sold-out phenomenon to become rather rare.

I would imagine it is not as common as it used to be, but I still see SOLD OUT notices at theaters in southern California frequently. I tried to take my nephew to see Star Trek during its opening weekend, but could not because it was sold out. We settled for 17 Again, which was kind of like hearing a waiter say, "Sorry but we're all out of lobster. Here's a nice bowl of corn flakes instead."

When I did get to see Star Trek a few weeks later, I saw that Up was sold out.
