Ships of the Line 2024

The Wormhole

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Images have been released for the 2024 Ships of the Line calendar. See them here.

But to review, images are as follows:
Cover: Enterprise D at McKinley Station
January: Cerritos approaching a Vanguard type station which has docked at it a New Orleans class ship, a Nova class, two Akira class ships, a Daedalus and an Excelsior
February: Romulan warbird
March: Enterprise A's bridge from TUC
April: Escape pods launching from a Galaxy class saucer, with Borg and Romulan ships fighting in the background
May: Original Enterprise 1701 in spacedock undergoing its refit
June: New design
Centerfold: Cutaway of NX-01 refit
July: Enterprise A pursued by Klingon D-7/K't'inga
August: Discovery with Disco/SNW redesigned Enterprise and some other ship, too small to make out
September: Enterprise F
October: Movie refit Enterprise
November: Some weird variant of a movie refit Constitution class ship, with a Klingon symbol stamped on the picture
December: Something which resembles the Titan A with something which resembles a Sabre class.

August: Discovery with Disco/SNW redesigned Enterprise and some other ship, too small to make out

I don't think that's the Discovery? I did some Googling based on the name of the artist credited for the image, and was able to find this, which I think is the same ship as in the calendar image:

(The artist in question was actually just recently featured in Explorer issue 7, because he contributed certain ship designs to Picard season 3!)

October: Movie refit Enterprise

Apparently the Yorktown! (Yes, I had to look up the number online... )

November: Some weird variant of a movie refit Constitution class ship, with a Klingon symbol stamped on the picture

"Tonight, on The Great Klingon Ship Off, your challenge is... build one of the ships of our enemies, using only genuine, honourable Klingon parts!"

April: Escape pods launching from a Galaxy class saucer, with Borg and Romulan ships fighting in the background
I'm not seeing any Borg in that image, I see the warbirds firing on a Galaxy-Class Star Drive.

June: New design
I think that might be the same class as the USS Ibn Majid

August: Discovery with Disco/SNW redesigned Enterprise and some other ship, too small to make out
Those are all @AdmiralBuck original designs
The Closest one is the Endurance
Second one is the USS hood
The far one might be the Sentinel?

December: Something which resembles the Titan A with something which resembles a Sabre class.
The left ship might be the USS Onimaru, it has appeared in SOTL before.
The right ship looks to be the USS Nomadic.

Which appears to be based off an unused Ryan Dening Perpetual era STO design, but with nacelles from John Eaves’s STO USS Phoenix (which later became a ship in Picard)

Excited.

Constitution-class Enterprise in drydock: check.
1701 in Earth's atmosphere/"Tomorrow is Yesterday": missing! Could these previews be fake?

My dream calendar would be, just once, to have each TV show + Kelvin. Allowing for combos/crossovers.

That NX refit cutaway is kinda interesting although I prefer the style of the cutaway they did with the Daedalus and Romulan bird of prey. Is this the first time they've given a name to the refit class? It's called Columbia class now.

I wonder if it's like an IKS Enterprise. I wondered about a storyline where the NCC-1701 was captured at Genesis instead of blown up and then Kirk had to face her in the Enterprise-A. It looks like it has Klingon nacelles which is I wanted to do to. Looks much better than I could do!

It is weird that we don't see more prize ships in Trek. Fleets capturing their enemies' ships and repurposing them for their own use is a common tactic. Of course, the reason it isn't done in TV/film is obvious; it's a visual medium and you want easy visual recognition of which ships are the good guys and which are the bad guys. But something like the calendar image where the surface details are altered to match the captors' design style would help. (Also changing the colors of the lights would be a good indicator, like in Prodigy when the infected ships' lights turned red. That didn't make sense, since why would the running lights, nacelle lights, and such be capable of changing color? But in a refitted prize ship, it would make more sense that components would be swapped out for ones with different emission spectra.)

I know there have been a couple of Trek novels that have featured prize ships. I think The Pandora Principle had the Enterprise capturing a Romulan prize ship, and I think there was a novel about a space pirate using a captured Constitution-class ship.

Yeah "Blaze of Glory." The captain's name was Blaze and his ship was the Glory. I was just thinking about that novel an hour ago. I had the list of TNG novels open trying to remember a novel I read in the 90s about some planet that had a wormhole generator on it. "A Fury Scorned."

Over at Starship Modeler…somebody combined a 1/537 refit and K’tinga together 25 years ago…but I can’t find it…the Hood I think

I remember John Ordover saying on the old psiphi boards that Pocket got complaint letters from 'fans' saying they'd put the wrong Enterprise on the cover of a TNG novel. (plainly they'd never read the book)

They're cool! Another one I drew when I was a kid was a bird-of-prey body with like a Voyager-style saucer. It reminds me of the Yeager from DS9 a little bit. I think the idea was the ships crashed on a planet and they had to merge pieces of the ships together to make them
