Yes, our weekly battle between TWO ships from the spectrum of SCIFI movies/TV show....you are voting not on fire power, but on 'looks' of the two ships. Which one 'catches your eyes', and makes you slobber with lust....

I only include two ships per battle so there is no 'middle ground'....so without any further delay..here is the battle...


BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (from the new Ronald D Moore reboot)
vs
STAR DESTROYER (meaning the shooting at Princes Lea's ship at the start of New Hope)....

It would be an interesting fight. I guess a big question would be, what effect would the Galactica's flak barrier have on a barrage of turbo lasers? It seems to me as though the lasers would just pass through the flak cloud and chip away at the unshielded Galactica.

Wow that's a tuff call..:vulcan: I voted Galactica, but what Evil said is a pretty good point, but I'm just banking on the fact that Galactica has nuke's and there bullet's could possibly pass thru the destroyers shilds.:techman:

Well Star Wars ships do have seperate shields for repulsing physical and energy attacks (which can't operate at the same time, IIRC), so if Galactica catches them off guard, they'd have it in the bag.

My stubborn unwillingness to ever read the initial post in a thread has been getting me in trouble all week.
 
The Galactica vs. a Star Destroyer would be a close contest.

The Pegasus, by contrast, would kill four or five Star Destroyers, then ram a Super Star Destroyer, destroying herself, the Super, and two or three more Star Destroyers from her flying wreckage.

Which looks better? Star Destroyer - marginally.

Which would win in a fight? Star Destroyer, I think. Shields count for a lot.

Star Destroyer has a slight edge on it's own against the Galactica, but the Viper seems to be a superior fighter to the Tie.

Yep. The Beast was the most heart-breaking, life-taking ship that ever graced a screen. :)
