Ship Based novels

I go away for the weekend and my thread goes wild.

I not averse to planets I just happen to find more interest in space based adventures. Space stations are also good. I'll work my way through some of your reccomendations so thank you.

On the subject of ship based novels potentially being repititive I don't think anyone would level that criticism at Rendevous With Rama.

One of the very best Star Trek novels, in my opinion.

Yeah, The Wounded Sky is amazing. It's the first novel in Diane Duane's own distinctive sub-continuity, and the best, but it tends to get overlooked because it's not part of the Rihannsu series. One could quibble that it portrays the Enterprise crew in kind of an idealized, larger-than-life way, but I like the way it's essentially presenting Star Trek as epic myth.

As is Crossroads, another space-based one, come to think of it.

Another good one, easily Barbara Hambly's best Trek novel. The title is actually Crossroad, though.
