Although I don't expect a reply from him, I did ask Moffat if there was an Easter special this year about half an hour ago on twitter.

Here's the link from the Doctor who series 7 website

http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-series-7-autumn-2012-26419.html

It lists the above schedule :techman:

Steven Moffat has promised that Sherlock fans will not have "that long" to wait for a third series.

The writer told the Radio Times that he plans to "starve" and "tease" viewers in the run-up to future episodes.

"Get used to a bit of starvation," he said. "We're making movies - those six films we've made could go in the cinema. You can't factory produce that - it's a different kind of show.

"So, when we're good and ready - it won't be that long - but when we're ready, you'll get the follow-up."

Apparently BBC America aren't happy about the CBS series

BBC America is reportedly "furious" with CBS over the US network's plan to produce a modern-day Sherlock Holmes series.

Elementary - devised by Medium writer Rob Doherty - will transport Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective to present-day New York.

BBC America chiefs have labelled the project as a "blatant... copy" of UK drama Sherlock, claims The Mirror.

"We want Sherlock to rate big in the States and this could take the shine off it," an unnamed source apparently told the tabloid.

A 'US TV source' added: "The success of Sherlock in the UK has been major factor of bringing Elementary to life. We believe this modern twist will appeal to viewers. We want fresh American faces in the role."

They could have at least used August Derleth's Solar Pons, which was a straightforward pastiche of Holmes.

Speaking of general Holmes stories has any read the new Holmes Novel by Anthony Horowitz of 'Stormbreaker' fame?

House of Silk you mean? Started it a couple of days ago, somehow I missed that a novel was actually commissioned by the Doyle Estate last year.

It is now in my bookshelf between Adrian Conan Doyle' Exploits of SH and The Final Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Apocrypha).

I've read "House of Silk" and it's okay. It's actually two cases that are related to each other. The first case (called The Man in the Flat Cap) was like one of the old short stories and I liked it a lot. The titular House of Silk is not as good, partly predictable and has too many cameos (with at least one of them just for the sake of it).

It'll be interesting to see how many Britons are cast as Americans in the show, in their effort to make it more "American."

The question is :-

Is it going to be an American Sherlock or an American playing a British Sherlock?

With regards to the later, not ideal but passible. For the former I've got a radical idea create a new detective instead of plundering a British one.

Yep, that's the one. Seems to be a bit of hype around it so I was wondering if it was any good.

What do you think is the best Sherlock Holmes not written by Arthur Conan Doyle?

Also there's the 'Sherlockian' book which sounds a bit like the Sigmund Freud novel 'Interpretation of Murder'.

BTW before people think that there'll be another series this year, Sue Vertue said that's not gonna happen, it's meant as hopefully they'll be working on it before the year is out.
