Shaving Heads

So I decided to try being completely bald for a while. Today I got my head shaved and then later on I took a Razor to the remaining stubble. Apart from a few shaving cuts and a slight shaving rash it seems alright.

The only thing I've noticed is its quite tender, It feels slightly stingy. I've applied a bit of Savalon to my head (lol) just to clean it out and prevent any infections on the cuts, hopefully i've not opened myself up to some kind of skin condition. I will admit it feels pretty weird and my head is like hotter than normal (since theres no hair to soak up perspiration).

Anyone else shave their head and should I expect any unusual skin developments?

I've never gone down to the floor so to speak but I found it was a lot easier to dry.

I used to shave it for cancer research and fund raising then keep it short/shaved using one of These. they work great and fast..

Hair started falling out in patches and not in a pattern like what happens to most people...it has started to grow back but there is a place on the back that won't...not sure what caused it.

I shave my head every morning. No ill effects so far. And I cut myself surprisingly rarely...be careful though. Especially when shaving the back of your head where you can't see.

One thing, don't use one of those fancy 'Head Blades' that you sometimes see. You don't need that. Just use a standard razor and shaving gel. Works fine.

Also, it helps if you shave in the shower. The steam helps keep the skin feeling better after shaving.

I shaved my head a few times many years ago. One thing you'll definitely need is suntan lotion. Your scalp doesn't get much direct sunlight so now that you don't have the hair barrier you're ripe for a sunburn.

Ok. Yeah I should have check with a doctor when it started. I was under a lot of stress with working 2 jobs and then finding myself unemployed.

I always have too much hair and it gets irritating for me. Thats why I tend to shave my head, only this time i've obviously gone completely bald. In some way, it saves money, not having to get a haircut every few weeks, when you can just shave it off and be good for at least 3 months.

I've never dyed my hair, just never been into it. As for styling, if your hair is naturally curley and prone to eastern fro past a certain length, you are pretty limited, its not all bad.

I shaved my head once. I colored my hair at home and it turned carrot orange instead of the blonde the box had promised. No matter what I tried I could not get it to lighten up and my hair started to breakdown. So I shaved it off and let it grow back. My only advice from the experience is to invest in a good hat. You should keep your head covered when you go outside because your scalp will sunburn faster then you think.

I've been doing it for about three years, because I decided having long hair was a pain in the ass, and going to short hair seemed too "normal." Shaving is a different kind of pain in the ass than having long hair, but still maintenance-related.

I use the Mach 3 Turbo blades. The regular Mach 3 blades irritate my skin more, and with the Fusion blades I somehow end up cutting up my hands on that useless backward blade they have.

I started balding at around 18 and had the classic pattern by 21 or so. Obviously an extra bummer to deal with at that age.
Nowadays I vacillate between mad scientist, bald with crazy overgrown hair w/beard and buzzed or shaved head. Each has its virtues.
Currently in mad scientist mode.
