Of course, of course.
Hoo, boy.
Hoo, boy.
Seven of Nine is in the holodeck and orders the computer to accept the changes she has made to her personal quarters in her program and begin the program. She is dressed in a stunning red dress with her hair fully down again. She walks over to a mirror and checks herself out. Holo-Chakotay tells her she looks perfect.
They banter and flirt over a bottle of wine. Seven then asks him to assist her in the kitchen. Chakotay compliments her on her cooking and it devolves into more flirting including her licking sauce off his finger in order to determine whether it needed more salt. Hearing the music in the background, Chakotay wonders if Seven has begun playing an instrument. She has indeed. The Doctor has been giving her piano lessons, but she requires more practice before Chakotay can hear her.
They go back to preparing the meal and she notices a flaw in Chakotay's technique. In order to help correct it, she takes his hand and helps him with some very intimate contact. They both realize what's going on and smile at each other. They try to tackle the wine again and she gently traces the contours of his face. She tells him he has "an intriguing facial structure." They start to kiss and after a moment, a tiny alarm is heard, alerting Seven.
From Memory Alpha: VOY: "Human Error"
Romance-of-the-week episodes are the worst kind of episode for me. Putting a character in a real relationship that develops over weeks or years is fine, in some instances it can be great, but does anybody really care about these pointless quickie relationships?
Oddly enough, the next Bad Episode isn't as much. Guess there's plenty of folks around here who consider it in the So Bad It's Good territory. And, yes, "Meridian"-bashing is strongly encouraged!
I saw it for the first time earlier this year and was astonished that such a godawful A-story ever got commissioned in the first place. It just feels like a spec script that was written over a week by a kid after school hours. It's absurd, corny, witless, overly earnest and (IMHO) misrepresentative of the main characters. The actors phone it in for the most part, and I can't really blame them. You can't make a purse out of a pig's ear. Now I kind of see the value in mediocre episodes of Tv, because they allow you to calibrate a scale and appreciate the good ones, but damn!![]()
It is in my nature to be mildly amused by episodes like...
"Civil Defense"
I'm thinking that they've got a big, FX-lavish episode coming up, so they needed to save some money and decided that a bottle show about the station trying to kill them would be the best way to do so....
I liked the idea of the planet that fades in & out -- but not the Dax story.Well, I finally made it through...
"Meridian"
This one wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The A story was pretty limp, but the B-story was actually pretty good...
