Shatner's Role In "Star Trek 2008" leaked

Admiral Buzzkill

Basically, the "Romulans kill Kirk" storyline is disinformation. What actually happens is this: the Romulans do assassinate someone in the past, but it's Christopher Pike. This necessitates Spock contacting himself at an early point in his own career and convincing him somehow to take drastic and possibly mutinous action in order to keep Pike out of a certain (undisclosed) situation at the film's climax.

The SHOCKER is that Spock first realizes that something's gone wrong with time when he encounters his old friend James Kirk - alive nearly a century after he died on the Enterprise B.

So basically Spock has to make the heartwrenching decision to restore history knowing that in order to put things right, Kirk must die.

Harlan Ellison is said to be furious.

I challenge TeamTrek and StarTrek11 to come clean on this.

Sounds nice.

Now to the nitpicking ;) :D : does Spock all of a sudden live outside of the space-time continuum? He couldn't spot any changes in the history since he would be part of that (universe's) history...

Everything falls into place once you know this, though. Shatner's part is small - a single scene - yet absolutely pivotal to the main plot. To know it is to know the climax and the dramatic crux of the film (sorry) so of course they've done everything they can to misdirect.

It gives Kirk's character the "meaningful" death his fans have been demanding. The existence of the whole Star Trek Universe turns on it.

Spock is able to go through with his mission only by remembering Kirk's own sacrifice of Edith Keeler as an inspiration and example.

Again, I notice that our board's two project insiders remain silent on this revelation.

Look at the face in my avatar.

Would that face lie?
So how does spock contact young spock? The temporal transporter or the Guardian since ellison is pissed. Why Pike? To prevent Kirk from taking command. Pike was assassinated by Kirk in Mirror, Mirror and took command. Anyway how does Kirk get to the Generations Time period?

If true, I think i'd rather not hear any more. Surely they cant hope to keep that quiet for 14 months.

Hang on...JFK? Pike? Assinations?

Hmmm.

I posted something similar to this story idea to another forum a few weeks ago, but it was something that I came up with off the top of my head.

Was I a really good guesser, or is this rumor dressed up as fact?

What's your source? (No names, necessarily, but what kind of source?)

Just curious.

I know people who know people who hear things.

I saw Bigfoot once. It had a foot on 'im, thirty-seven inches from heel to toe.

Why would Ellison be furious. Is this a script or Idea he had?

Ever hear of a little piece of television lore called "The City on the Edge of Forever"? :)

I was really hoping Shatner's role in the film would be a sneering reincarnated Borg Kirk Super-Villain who has a knock-down fight with Chris Pine and gets his shirt ripped (Shatner's, not Pine's).

But what has the City on the edge of Forever have to do with the assasination of Pike? Edith Keeler is not part of the story.

In both this plot and the plot of that episode, a hero will have to let someone they care about die in order to right the timeline.

Would one of these be Powdertoast Man? If so who is the other? Ever since Enterprise went off the air where Morbious was the known insider I haven't kept up with who the board "insiders" are.

I don't thimk that is going to happen. To me it just only a rumor. Plus there isn't any report that Shatner will be in the movie itself. Also Spock himself woundn't even know that the time line had change. Spock traveling threw time maybe. But there will be someother reason why that he is going. Then again for that to happen. Spock himself would have to be to cause of the time change.

My sources say that Dennis is close, but with one minor alteration:

So basically Martin Luther King, Jr. has to make the heartwrenching decision to restore history knowing that in order to put things right, Uhura must die.
