Shatner WAS Kirk!

Just saw the movie today and if there are three words that sum up my experiencing this movie, it's those.

Pine owns that character now. he's taken the intellect, drunken swagger and bravado and stoic courage of James Tiberius Kirk and knocked it up several notches. This movie was like the atomic powered defibrillator that the franchise needed. And it was done with the utmost respect for what has come before. Before this movie, I wasn't sure if there was going to be a Star Trek in the near future. But after this, there will be another 40 years of Trek to enjoy! Live Long and Prosper!:D

Chris Pine did a pretty good job as Kirk, but I don't think he was Shatner's equal. Don't get me wrong I like Pine, but there were times in this film where it seems Pine's Kirk was trying way to hard to be "cool'

Shatner seemed far more natural in the role and will always be remembered as Kirk in the way that Sean Connery is James Bond.

Here's the thing: The sperm are involved in the part that's 9 months BEFORE the timeline split.
Well if that's true in the Star Trek universe, how come alien species are able to successfully mate?

What do you mean "in the Star Trek universe?"

That's how it works in the real world! You think I'm making this up? Do you really actually NOT know?
I mean how can an alien from Vulcan successfully produce offspring with a human?

Guys...Spoock prime instantly recognized young Jim Kirk. I seriously doubt his genetic makeup was different if that was the case. It's new actors. We're just supposed to not notice the dissimilarities.

Wait, Vulcans and humans can't do the nasty? I thought they were compatible...I mean, how many half-human, half (insert fictional species here) characters have we seen? They're not all test tube babies are they?

We're supposed to believe that the universe of Star Trek is filled with humanoid extraterrestrials who coincidentally look remarkably human (sans pointed ears, or craggy foreheads), speak almost perfect American English, but that their kibbles-n-bits are radically different?

So there's no point in lusting after all those alien hotties after all??

TNG's "The Chase" is the gift to anyone who has a problem with this.

You shut up! You shut up right now! Lusting after alien hotties is our business. And business is good :D

Also, in case you haven't noticed, this is a Star Trek forum. I think that there are probably many, many people here who do not understand how sex works.

I'm sure that's why I had 4 kids :guffaw:

Guys, how about we stay on topic here (that being Pine/Shatner as Kirk) and knock off the sperm discussion and the lesbian sex discussion?

Thanks. :)
