Shatner set to appear in Trek XII - JJ

Do we really need to continue to jump through hoops to look backwards? Can't we just move forward with this damn new franchise?

Enough with the old-timers. The time for the Shat was during that whole fanwank sequence on the ice planet with old Spock. They didn't do it, that's fine with me, i dont care either way, but it's done. Enough.

We just had a movie heavily featuring time travel and future versions of our main characters. You would think Star Trek fans would something new than continuing to rehash the same time travel gobbledygook every other movie.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations................ except in our movie plots, of course.

New adventures, new stories please. Enough rehashing.

Shatner wouldn't be playing the older/original timeline Kirk anyways, so his presence wouldn't be stepping on the new actors and cast. His participation...if it even HAPPENS...will be more of a tip of the hat and nod to the old crew and cast than anything else without the old/classic Kirk hamming and nosing into the new storyline. Shatner would end up being an uncle or grandpa if anything...maybe even a Starfleet admiral or Federation honcho with no blood connection to the Kirk family.

The next movie will be about the adventures of Jim and Sam and Grandpa Tiberius, whose words of wisdom to his grandson Jimmy will be to make sure that Sulu fella doesn't get much screen time.

nuStar Trek should file a restraining order against Shatner.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Here's the scene I'd like to see:

For whatever reason, the crew plus Spock Prime need Kirk Prime, they travel to the future, say about 480?? or so. As a bridge is careening down the side of a precipice, a transporter beam snatches the person falling to his death on the torn piece of metal. When (cameo appearance by) Captain J. L. Picard gets to the mangled wreckage, expecting to find James Kirk's body clinging on to the last breathes of life, he finds NOTHING. Last shot is him just looking at the wreckage at where in GENERATIONS, Kirk lie dying. (afterwards, He makes a memorial and goes on his way).

Then the title "STAR TREK: whatever they're gonna call it" comes in.

Kurtzman & Orci can come up with the rest (and reason). They get paid to do that. I did my part.

It should be a Christmas movie, and Shatner can play the Ghost of Christmas Present...ya know, the fat and jolly one.

The egotistical ghost who asks Scrooge for more money in order to show him his present? Yep. Heard of that one.
