Shatner/Kiss

okay, really Gene Simmons..

Another great interview from Shatner. I have never been a fan of Kiss, you know me I'm a softie. I like some of their stuff, Beth being my favorite (for obvious reasons)..

But Gene really came off as a real person. I had no idea he had been born in Isreal. He talks about the rought times there and here when they came to America. He talks about how he cried when he went to his first supermarket...

I think Shatner does a great job of making these 'guests' tell things about themselves that makes them more dimensional...great job Bill..

I'm not much of a Kiss fan either, but I find Gene Simmons utterly fascinating. I saw a very long interview with him years ago, maybe on Dateline NBC or something, but I was very impressed with his history, his views on things, and his intelligence. Yeah he's kinda creepy with the women conquest thing, but still a very interesting guy.

As for the show, Shater just rules at everything and pulls of talk show host perfectly. I haven't watched this episode yet but I expect it to be up to par with the rest of them.

Gene Simmons also wears red jammies to sleep--at least on his "Family Jewels" show he does.

He seems very committed to his kids and non-wife, to a near-obsessive level. And it's cute to see his little nephews call him "Uncle Geney."

Was really cool to see. I've been a KISS fan for years, and I think Gene came across very differently than he does in the usual KISS interview. Usually Gene's ego screws up most of his interviews, and usually saying how the band does encores back in the hotel, how he's slept with 4000+ women, how he discovered Van Halen, or how KISS has the most gold records behind The Beatles (which is not true.) But, in this interview he came across alright. Nothing I didn't really know before, since I've been following the band for ages now, but still very cool.

I was wondering how KISS fans would view that interview. Good to hear your point of view. I hope he (shatner) balances it out by interveiwing one of my favorite singers; Andy Williams. Shatner/Nimoy both appeared on the old ANDY WILLIAMS show when TREK was in production...would be interesting to see if they remember each other from their old NBC days...

It's nothing he hasn't said before in the past 30 years in an interview.
