Shark Jumping

I'm pretty sure 'jump the shark' has jumped the shark.

But apparently it took place during the season five opener.

I like what the creator said about jumping the shark. To paraphrase....

We were on the air for several more seasons and were, or close to, the number one show for the majority of them.

If you mean literally, it was when they did an episode in Hawaii where Fonzie water-skiied over a shark. I'm sure Google can tell you more.

The way I see it "jumping the shark" doesn't necessarily refer to the point when a tv show drops in ratings and loses viewers but rather the point when a good show becomes bad by running out of original ideas (although the latter can lead to the former). Of course a show can still continue for many years after having turned into shit. Therefore this producer's comment is totally meaningless imo, that's like FNC trying to prove their superior truthiness by pointing at the fact that they have higher ratings than CNN and MSNBC. Many horrible shows have great ratings, but that doesn't make the show not crap.

I completely agree, but I like how the creator of the show did stand up for himself.

To me the show that has jumped the shark the most is Weeds, nothing will beat that, there are episodes where the show jumps a few sharks, just in that one episode and they do it for weeks at a time!
