SG: Universe Story ideas

One of the crew will be revealed to be a Replicator or a Goa'uld.
One of the crew will die/ascend/evolve/get uncontrolable powers and will have to leave the ship/show at the end of season three. They'll be replaced by a hot blonde in a skin tight costume.
Somehow they'll crossover into an evil universe and meet their counterparts.

Ugh. I'm hoping against hope that the usual cliched ideas (virus makes crew squirrely, they discover a doohicky in space/on a planet that seems useful but wreaks havoc, they take aboard an alien who seems helpful but isn't what he/she appears, etc etc) will be avoided. But of course they won't and those will make up the sum total of the series.
However, blithely ignoring reality, here's my answer: This premise is basically VOY, so the best approach would be to "do VOY right." Ron Moore has already done this, but his overtly political approach isn't really needed for SG:U, so dropping that element will avoid charges of copying. Ditto for the religious metaphor.
Instead, I'd like to see some really wild hallucinogenic approach to the far, far reaches of space, a la Farscape at its most insane. Not so much the story ideas as the aesthetics and the unpredictability factor. If we're going to be spending a lot of time in space, space needs to be a lot more interesting than Stargate has made it seem to date.
Other than that, you've got a bunch of people bottled up together for a long, long time. With the right mix, the interpersonal conflicts could fuel several years of strong, character-based drama.
This will require hiring actors with a lot of charisma and talent, since the success of the series will depend on the characters rather than the usual, tired story gimmicks. Actors along the lines of Gary Cole, Lake Bell and Alan Tudyk. I'd avoid bringing over anyone from BSG, even though they're the right type of actor, just because of the similarity of the premises.
Lastly, move production to New Mexico so we can have some planets that look like proper alien worlds, and hire all new producers and writers.
But like I said, none of this will happen, so my best hope is that they land a real hottie as the lead actor, to give me a motive to suffer through the bad acting and worse writing. Michael Trucco would do nicely.
If it's Wayne Pygram, I'll forgive them for being cliched.

At most there will be guest spots( it is Canada afterall)
Cliches are the fabric that hold the Gateverse together.
They're important as midiclorians in Star Wars
Also there will be an episode where the crew thinks they've found a way home only to have it be dangerous and shut down or left behind. That's really an inevitable one
Seeing BSG actors slumming on Stargate is too depressing. I'm hoping they all get gigs on real shows. 
The first Renaissance village planet they discover, the TV is going OUT the window, I'm serious this time.
They'll discover a Stargate on an inhospitable but barely survivable planet and try to get it working. But the ship's auto-pilot will kick in and start to leave, forcing them to decide whether to stay and keep working, risking being stranded. Some will decide its worth the risk - better than going crazy in the tin can again - and stay behind.
The crew splits up, both sides figuring they'll never see the others again, unless they can somehow get a ship and catch up. Which they do, several episodes later, to inform the others that they've got the Stargate working!
Only something is wrong. They've hooked up with some aliens who seem very squirrely. Is the Stargate really working? Or did they realize it was hopeless and were forced to ally themselves with the aliens as their only means of rescue?

No... you guys are gonna make them make it an Atlantis clone if they read this...
why not make it a proper show.. not cliched and done to death... like how normal shows are... like 24 and stuff.. but just have it in the same universe as SG:A and SG-1
^ edit: by the late Seasons 24 is v re hashed.. i meant make it diff from SG1 and SGA... ie not ness a show about a tauri team going off thru thru thr gate and reporting back to some sort of command...

I was under the impression that this thread (even if not originally intended to be that way) was more mocking the standard story-lines that seem to always come up in Stargate or by extension in Sci-Fi in general.
This is they way I read most of the posts in this thread. (And how I posted when I said what I said earlier.)
I just can't wait to see them beam down every other week to an alien planet that looks just like a hiking trail in Vancouver. And all the humans they'll find in the far reaches of the universe who live in pre-industrial villages.
