Telford will be back, no doubt about it in my mind. Eli, Brody, and Volker are all competent as well.
Telford will show up in two more episodes, I've heard. As for the rest of them, Brody and Volker are competent, but I doubt Rush would want to make them targets of Young's ire.

To be honest the chalk bothers me less than the bottomless tiny notepad that he's constantly scratching on. I assume he packed about 1000 of those.

this ep was a mix bag for me, i liked the Eli parts with his mom and Greer and Tbag bumping heads and Wray finally developing a conscience... but the Wray with her girlfriend was like watching the L word and felt overly dramatic, and yay no sappy music montage!! piano was nice. all in all i give it a 7 it gets 1 point for the Eli story and 1 point for no emo music montage..

I'll give it a 7 as well, it was nice with Eli and his mom, and Wray and Eli, but really nothing happened in the episode, still kinda boring.

i found the episode to be kinda eh. not much really happened. some nice character stuff with Eli. the rest just seemed to be setting up future storylines.

Dull. Boring. Stale.

Both SG1 and Atlantis were adventure stories. Bringing peace to the galaxy. Liberating the weak from oppression. Not only is that not the theme of this show, its not even a part of it. Nor is there any adventure. It's almost entirely relationship drama, which is not scifi. And it's not Stargate.

If we’re talking about a lack of supplies and the characters complain about the food--why isn’t Eli losing any weight?

And I’m loving Brody. That’s what you do with a minor character, give him/her more to do in the episodes until s/he’s not a minor character anymore.

i guess the producers got tired of doing those and wanted to do smaller more intimate stories dealing with human emotional drama :barf:

I like the minor characters much more than the leads.

I DVR'd this one and tried to watch it late last night. I had to bail out after 30 minutes, because it was extremely boring.
I understand the personal emotional drama, but that means that you actually have to *like* the character in the first place, and I just don't like any of the lead characters to invest emotional energy into any of them.

I'm having to agree with everyone else... I loved SG-1, and liked Atlantis... and I want to really like this show.

It's to the point where I'm holding out hoping SOMETHING happens... every week it gets harder to watch. And, my wife, who LOVES Atlantis, can't even stand it... she stopped watching already.

Oh well.... :)

I loved the Eli stuff (there's a deep seated geek fantasy - showing your Mom around your spaceship! "See Mom, I wasn't wasting time playing all those games!")

The rest of the ep you can jettison.

I just want something to happen each episode, its like every episode is a buildup of something great to come, but it just hasn't yet.

You dont say lines like:
" I feel like i am sleeping away, bit by bit " - with a straight face.

SLIPPING away.

And why not?

You don't admit to slowly losing your mind with a smile.

That being said --

They came DAMNED close to another ballad. Just 'cause no one's singing all emo-like, when you have sonorous music over a montage, you're deep in cliche mode. They would've scored an extra point from me if they'd have left that out.

And what's Wray doing? She's gotta have an angle at some point. "Hey, Eli. Remember that time I helped you with your mom? You OWE me."

I dunno, i saw Wray doing that just to be nice, didn't see any motive from her for doing that other than just to be nice, which is nice. I think she's having relationship problems with her gal pal though, maybe Eli will provide comfort for her since she helped him with his mom.

I'd agree with Brent there. I don't think that Wray's decision to help Eli and his mom was the result of some secret agenda or angling for future leverage or some other "sinister" reason. As an IOA representative, one of her concerns is human resources. I think it's only natural that she'd go to bat for one of the crew, particularly someone like Eli who hasn't gone out of his way to be an ass or endanger the lives of others or keep her from doing her job. Eli's humor annoys me more than it amuses me, but he's generally a good guy and Wray knows how valuable he can be to the crew and that he wouldn't be valuable at all if he fell into a depressed funk over worry that his mom was going to stop taking her meds again. Wray's interactions with and assistance to Eli in this episode were actually my favorite parts, in fact, because it actually allowed her to do something for a change, instead of just being a character to argue with Young. We need more of this.

Angles and secret agendas are Rush's domain, after all. ;)

I don't have a whole lot to say about this episode. There were several storylines going through it and I'd be hard pressed to call one of them the "A" story. Makes the show feel muddled and unfocused.

Anyway, I liked Rush's save, showing everyone his "thinking room" as if that's where he's been all those times he was unavailable. Also pretty sleazy how he sold Chloe up the river to Young then made her completely beholden to him with his "cure." I'll give Rush credit for being able to get the most out of a lousy situation.

The mystery surrounding Chloe was interesting but Chloe herself was vacuous as usual. She really need to step up her acting. Better writing wouldn't hurt, either....

The plot with Eli's mom was just painful for the most part, but at least it had a solid payoff. Wray stepping in and pulling strings surprised me. I also like that they showed her and her partner having issues. The "honeymoon" period for this whole situation is long over, and it's about time the cracks started to show.

I also don't think she was working an angle with Eli. Her character has always come off as more naive and overly optimistic than anything else. I don't think deception and manipulation are significant traits for her. Had Rush done it, sure, he'd be getting something out of it--Rush never does anything out of the goodness of his heart, it seems. I can get that Wray did it because she was hurting, saw Eli hurting, and figured that she could at least help him and his mother even if she couldn't help herself.

OK, I guess I had more to say about this than I thought.

Personally, I like the "character drama" shows, as long as they're good. This one wasn't great but it wasn't terrible, either.

I sure hope this shit with T-Bag is going somewhere, though. So far all I've learned is that Robert Knepper is incredibly underwhelming when he's not chewing scenery.

I'd also like to add that I just love that we're all referring to Knepper as T-Bag. I'm still hopeful that the producers of A&E's Breakout Kings are successful in persuading him to bring that character back for their series...

Ohhhh, so Knepper is T-Bag ? I didn't know what that meant either. Why are we referring to him as T-Bag ?
