I'm giving this one an "Average" mostly because of the use of the hallucination/dream thing, which are becoming an overused element of this season. Aside from that, Scott's motivational speech to Young was sort of ridiculous considering that Scott has never dealt with burden. In fact, he's more sociopathic than Rush given how casually he brushed off his ex on Earth with his kid and Lt. James.

Atlantis did have thought control, actually more advanced thought control than Destiny has. In Atlantis, Ancients could interface with the computer through their minds. It was never stated if Atlantis could project into their minds, but it might have very well been able to. People seem to forget this thought/mental control over Atlantis the Ancients had.

If I recall correctly, there might have been at least once that we saw an Ancient report on something that was being sent to their mind via Atlantis, I real some guy near a terminal able to see what a display would show, but without a display, meaning it was being sent to his head. At any rate, the thought control of Atlantis by Ancients is canon. Humans however, could not to do it, because they weren't advanced enough.

Destiny seems to be an earlier version of this.
Well yes, the Ancients did have thought control with the chair, but I was not aware of Atlantis projecting things into people's minds. However, it seems like such simple functionality to enable for use with non-Ancient humans given what we see here. Really, all it does is manipulate the electrical activity in the brain. so it's not like you need the ATA gene to use it.

I kinda liked this episode, I was hoping the action stuff would be real, but something is better than nothing, we need more action.

I got a "Cause and Effect" vibe from the dreams. It was making me think, ya know, I wouldn't mind seeing a Cause and Effect type episode on SGU, I think it could work well.

Eli's new girlfriend is cute, and I'm glad he got her. It seems a little forced though, she just came outta the blue all the sudden liking him. Maybe they could have dropped a hint in earlier eps that she has been studying his work, cause it just kinda came outta the blue.

Greer actually had some nice moments, I'm impressed that he actually helped Eli. In the mess hall, I thought he was going to be all mean and stuff and say don't start anything with her cause she was Lucian Alliance. I was surprised when he was actually for it, and wanting to help Eli. This was nice, I want to see more stuff like that, people actually helping each other!

I think Scott should have took over command, he seemed to be a bit more competent than Young. I think the ship has it right, Young is not fit for command. Even the ship knows he's a bad commander, I really don't understand why he's in charge. They never did fix the problem either, Rush just bypassed it, this can't turn out well. I'm grading it a 7.

I hope we get to learn what the mission is next week, before the series is canceled.

This episode pretty much confirms that Franklin and Mrs. Rush are part of Destiny's system. Destiny is capable of sending or controlling brain waves. Could easily explain what's been going on with Rush. Also, Franklin has the ability to notice things that Rush hasn't seen yet.

I got a little board with them running the battle again and again.
But the ending was interesting, I think Rush is not controlling the ship , but the ship is beginning to control him.

A recurring vision in which Colonel Young sees Destiny attacked and destroyed causes him to think he may be losing his mind.

I completely forgot it was on so I'll have to check it out some other way, but this episode description... Didn't Atlantis do exactly the same thing with the old dude seeing visions of the city being destroyed?

I really enjoyed it, I thought it was more of a 'sign of things to come' episode. Also I am glad that Young is a bit more sorted out. Also no crappy Emo music at the end which gained it an extra chevron

Yeah, but that guy was established to have the ability to see into the future and what he was seeing was a copy of Atlantis getting blasted by the Asurans. This time Young is getting mindfucked by the ship's computer trying to figure out a way to deal with the Blue Fish Group.

It was a good ep, although not really a game changer like some people have said.

Also, Ginn is super hot. :D

Interesting episode, better than most of season two so far.

But the SGU writers seem to be running into a wall. They seem to want to make a serialized show, but they keep having these episodes where all this dramatic cool stuff happens, only it turns out to be battle drills(this episode), delusions(last episode), time loop thingie(last season).

Stop with all the cheats and fake-outs. Either start having major stuff happen for real, or start making us care more about the little stuff(I doubt the writers have the finesse for that though).

Oh, and Scott getting sucked out into space would have been one of the franchise's best deaths had it been real.

I still can't help but feel there's more than the ship controlling you because of the aliens in that other galaxy who have T.J's baby. I still feel the writers are going to play the Furling card without having to show them in there own form...Ascended beings with who are following Destiny's mission.

Eli you dog :p

Excellent episode. I gave it a perfect 10 because it was so well done.

- I was shocked to see Scott get sucked out into space. I was like... Whoa! How are they going to resolve that one? At that point, I didn't know we were watching a simulation or a loop. The ship blowing up gave that away right after though.

- Once it was established that we were watching events in a loop, I was a bit surprised that they were pulling this sort of thing again, but it turned out alright. They gave an old idea a new twist. I'm also surprised to see that some of you liked it. I was pretty sure that this one would get bashed mercilessly.

- Greer was in top form once again. Love the way he and Eli bonded.

- Now the best part of the episode for me... Eli and Ginn. Yep. I said it. I don't like 'ships but this one is turning me into a 'shipper. :o Ginn seems perfect for Eli and what's even cooler is seeing the geeky kid get a hot girl who's from another planet. Good stuff. Now I wish I hadn't peeked at bullethead's spoiler.

- This show also continues to excel at subtle moments. First off, when they set up Eli and Ginn at the beginning, the next shot was Chloe looking wistfully out the window. The scenes were unrelated, but they were connected that way to play into the audience's thought process. Ooooh! Eli's got a new girl and Chloe's jealous! And then there was the shot of Destiny from above. The first thing I noticed was the dome, then sure enough, they cut to Park talking about using it.

This episode pretty much confirms that Franklin and Mrs. Rush are part of Destiny's system.
If that is the case, and I thought it was too, it's nice that we got a technical explanation of sorts.

i really liked this episode. it was a bit like 'Cause and Effect' but not too much. i was interested the whole time, which sometimes my attention wanders during SGU. i didn't hate Young in this episode and i usually hate him. hopefully this is a step in the right direction for SGU.

One of the best episodes of SGU. Right up there with Space and Time. And the next episode may be even better!

The fat geek getting a hot girl? They do know their target audience.

Hey, it DOES happen. Sometimes they even get married to the hot girl, start a family, and lose 40 lbs and counting. :)

Liked this one for sure - it moves so much forward, and reminds us of a lot of questions we hope to have answered soon. The only mission is no longer supposed to be survival, since that's been boring apparently. :P

Ginn isn't the stereotypical "hot girl", nor does she come off as being out of his league like say Lt. James. She's on his level and seems to be as much of a geek as he is, but she's pretty.

you guys know me, im not the biggest SGU fan but i liked this ep alot i give it an 8. Eli and Greer bonding reminds me of SG of old [Brothers in Arms/family] finally Young grows his balls back. Julie played a fallen angel in Supernatural she was cute, she looks even better here WOW. This is what was missing from the first season and earlier this season a forward moving story, good job writers,
