Geez, this sucked. It was bad enough they had another earth-bound episode, but then it was filled with wall-to-wall techno-babble. Not even Jewel in a slinky black dress could save this one for me. Ick!

Yikes. I think you missed the point.

This episode was fun. The story and back drop had little relevance, more along the lines of how they made Buffy episodes.

Um, no I didn't miss the point. The episode wasn't fun. It sucked. It was a waste of film. Thanks very much. :)

"I love you." To writers everywhere because the writers of "Heroes" has to learn this. "I love you" is a powerfully earnest thing to say to someone. You can tell someone you're attracted to them or you like being with them but people generally don't hand out "I love you's" until there's been some courtship and an emotional bond is organically formed.

Or it can be a matter of instantaneous personal chemistry, where two people are attracted to each other immediately. I could buy that, too, but the actors have to sell it, or maybe they just have to have it inherently, to enough of a degree that the audience can see it, so that it's more a question of the right casting than good acting.

Instant-attraction relationships can easily run right off a cliff. They can be catastrophic and unhealthy (and here I'm thinking specifically of a new relationship just introduced on Heroes, of a very, err, electric variety) but who cares? That's just more drama and fun for the audience, even if not for the characters. The important thing is that we have to buy the idea that it would happen at all.

I see what you're saying but I'm specifically talking about telling someone you love them that quickly. You have to actually fall in love with them first. On Heroes, I'm not talking about Sylar/Elle because that's the one flash of coolness on that show right now. I'm talking about Parkman and Daphne the Smallville Reject. Why does she love him? It should be "I'm think I'm falling in love with you" or "I'm into you" or just kiss and shut up.

I wonder how many times Keller's watched that Rodney snippet from the ep Rodney got Alzheimers (for lack of a better term)? Has her harddrive broken from all the wear-and-tear? ;)

Rodney's 'loved' Keller for quite some time. It's just her proclamation that seems out of character. Don't get me wrong, if they do it right, I could buy a Rodney-Keller pairing. In love, as well as general real life, truth is stranger than fiction.

I liked it and it was better than I thought it would be. I was surprised by Nye's large presence in the episode. I thought for sure he'd just be a cameo.

Even though it was a fun episode, I think it is a good example of one of Atlantis's problems. It is a big "who cares?" episode. Outside of furthering the Keller/McKay relationship, it does nothing for the series. The premise behind Atlantis is that they are in another galaxy. It was one of the main points the series had to separate it from SG-1. If the Atlantis Team comes to Earth, they should make it worth something, imo.

Now, that doesn't mean they can't have throwaway, fun episodes from time to time. But, did we really need to have an Earth-based episode? I mean, need it that badly?

I dunno. Just my two thoughts.

And, I agree it was funny how all the guests in tuxedos were freezing but Keller walks around in a cocktail dress showing cleavage and she's not cold.

Because she's hot? Sorry, lame joke.

The episode felt like an Al Gore PSA on global warming. Having all the scientists work together was a pretty obvious allegory of how we all have to work together to fight global warming.

I think that was part of the point since Sci-Fi and the rest of the NBC owned channels are having a "go-green" week. I wouldn't be surprised if they were "advised" to have a green-themed episode.

I've seen this episode before - it was called "Bounty" on SG1.

What version of "Bounty" did you see?

The episode was a little different the guest apperances by Bill Nye and Neil "The person who demoted Pluto" Tyson where neat. I think with only a few episodes reaming that that could have focused on some Pegasus Galaxy space things such as killing all the Wraith. I don;t know why but I was convinced that a Wraith had cime though the bride and sabotoged the device lol...

After viewing this I am determined to create a freeze gun based on the pooly named freexe lightning......

Burning Questions Remain However

So are Dr. McKay and Dr. Keller in the mile high club? Better yet are they in the Pegasus Club?

Just watched it. I thought it was a fun and entertaining episode. But i do agree, that it does give that "who cares?" feeling. Especially being so close to the end.

The basic plot is the same - guy goes to reunion from his earlier days but needs a hot date, goes there, and stuff goes wrong. Maybe my expectations were too high for the ep, but after the amaingness of the first few eps this season, just about every one post-5.10 has been a waste of screentime. Just think, we now only have 4 more SGA eps, then no more atlantis, except a few movies maybe. If universe sucks, then no more stargate.

They did. Originally, it was going to be last weeks episode (the time-capsule aliens would've become extinct due to environmental damage), but they decided proto-Brain Storm would be a better fit and switched the episodes in the schedule. Though a little resentment about it did survive in that the insulting job Woolsey was offered was head of the Environmental Department.

I liked this episode, unique, good guest cast. I liked how they took on the fact that McKay seems like a wash out to the science community cause what he does is secret, same thing happened to Dr. Jackson.

Wow...judging by that broad generalization, you can use the same guidelines for every episode of Stargate (or any other show for that matter):

Team visits planet. Finds something interesting. Things go wrong. Heroes save day.

Great episode, I always love seeing Marshall Bell in things, and he didnt turn out to be a bad guy!

Plus for a while I thought they had the original Daniel in there too, but I guess he just looks a lot like him.

Didn't like Bill Nye, and I definitely didn't like Tyson

Good episode though, pretty pointless and predictable but it was fun. And even Keller didn't annoy me much. Pretty good.

The CG building was terrible though. And the freeze lightning impacts on walls etc... ???

It was a good episode but the call to Walter bothered me if someone rang a secret number to the SGC and then the line went dead don't you think they would look in to it?

Walter just generally bugs me now. He was great in the early seasons of SG-1 but ever since they started giving him more to do, or just making him comic relief it's been pretty cringeworthy.

3 ZPMS!!
FINALLY! Rodney makes a move! Will he follow through? I'll believe it if they wake up in bed together (and neither is hung over!!).

As kpnuts, or whoever that guy is, would say... "a freaking kiss gives an episode the highest possible rank? WTF????"

Absolutely. I find it strange that people can give top marks for an episode based on 'a kiss' or 'banter between McKay and Tyson' but whatever works for them

Jennifer referenced strawberries (hope it's a deliberate nod to the Firefly episode when she got to dress up like Scarlett O'Hara).

Nice to see she can be honest with him (instead of suffering in silence and then breaking up with him). And she can make him get down off his high horse. Good touch.

I suspect Rodney's colleagues will end up eating their words -- encased in ice.
"No offense, Larry." WTF?

Why wasn't Jennifer shivering? A guy man in long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and jacket griped about the temperature and she's wearing a cocktail dress with no sleeves and only when they go to turn on the phones did she rub her upper arms.
Nice that Rodney gave her his jacket.

"Is she your sister?" Hee.

I love that she cursed when the cell lost the signal.
Rodney to the rescue. So glad he got some lovin' when she warmed up.

"My contract with the SGC is up this year." Not to menion MGM.

No offence... but do you only watch SG for shipping and Michael? Just curious

Also, what the hell was up with that weird security guard at the entrace, who popped up later to bring McKay and Keller to the guy's office. Talk about crap over-acting
