Rodney is Invited to a Science conference where a new invention by another scientist puts everyone in Danger

BTW, only 4 more episodes after this and it will be all over

I loved it very much!!!!

"I love how Rodney put down Neil DeGrasse Tyson for demoting Pluto and Making the schoolchildren cry. Also Keller saying "Not now Nye!" to Bill Nye and his admission that his degrees are honorary!!!"

I was doing okay and enjoying the little gags (Bill Nye, etc) until in a 10-15 minute span they mentioned 3 different times what would happen if the containment field fell. How many expository lines do we need, on the same point, in one episode?

3 ZPMS!!
FINALLY! Rodney makes a move! Will he follow through? I'll believe it if they wake up in bed together (and neither is hung over!!).

Jennifer referenced strawberries (hope it's a deliberate nod to the Firefly episode when she got to dress up like Scarlett O'Hara).

Nice to see she can be honest with him (instead of suffering in silence and then breaking up with him). And she can make him get down off his high horse. Good touch.

I suspect Rodney's colleagues will end up eating their words -- encased in ice.
"No offense, Larry." WTF?

Why wasn't Jennifer shivering? A guy man in long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and jacket griped about the temperature and she's wearing a cocktail dress with no sleeves and only when they go to turn on the phones did she rub her upper arms.
Nice that Rodney gave her his jacket.

"Is she your sister?" Hee.

I love that she cursed when the cell lost the signal.
Rodney to the rescue. So glad he got some lovin' when she warmed up.

"My contract with the SGC is up this year." Not to menion MGM.

I liked when Rodney came up with the term freeze lightening, then Tunney stole credit for it only for Nye to say it was stupid later.

Also next week it looks like we get zombie Wraith.

That was my favorite part.

I didn't understand the containment field stuff. A facility at 40 degrees or whatever in the desert causes tornadoes? Physics was never my forte but I wasn't getting that.

Re: SG-A – Brain Storm (5x16) – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS!)

So were did Neil Tyson disappear to 1/2 through the episode?

(Guess they couldn't get him for much of the filming.)

And so they supposedly had Stephen Hawking there (talking to Bil Nye when the "freeze-lightening' went by) but didn't consult him when it came to a *space-time bridge*!?

Sorry, it was kinda cute, but also kinda lame and predictable...

I forgot how much I like Bill Nye. And seeing him slap Dave Foley was quite fun to watch.

The episode as a whole was mediocre and predictable, but it had enough character development to make it worth the effort.

It's simple. Wind comes about when cold air hits warm air. The warm air rises, and so more air has to rush in to fill the space where the cold air was. The greater the temperature difference, the stronger the reaction. Hurricanes and tornados form in those cases.

They were in the middle of the desert, and when the forcefield went down, all that cold air smashed into the hot air, and made an instant windstorm. It was as if a cold front had popped up right in the middle of a mass of warm air.

I guess I won't open my hotel window in Las Vegas when I have the air conditioning going.

You'll probably get a draft, yeah.

Re: SG-A – Brain Storm (5x16) – (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS!)

My favorite part of the episode was Keller's cleavage. The story itself was average. I can't stand McKay's arrogance and immaturity. He whines that other scientists don't treat him seriously but he does nothing to earn their respect. And, maybe another scientist stole his ideas? It happens, grow up! If he showed some professionalism, other scientists would be more likely to respect him. And what was the point of having Nye and Tyson guest star if all they were going to do was make fun of McKay? It made physicists look kinda childish.

And, I agree it was funny how all the guests in tuxedos were freezing but Keller walks around in a cocktail dress showing cleavage and she's not cold.

The episode felt like an Al Gore PSA on global warming. Having all the scientists work together was a pretty obvious allegory of how we all have to work together to fight global warming.

I think it was more of an allegory of how we can't agree on what to do about it.

The timing of the episode (in the middle of this "Green Week" that I also got hammered with on WWE Raw this week) is certainly less than coincidental but I'm still giving this a Good.

I gave it a good. It was a nice, fun and light episode. It was GREAT to see Keller in something other than the standard Atlantis jogging suit.
The visual effects in this one were horrible though, those tornados looked like something out of a Saturday night skiffy movie, and the end result of the freeze lightning looked like my 6 year old made them.

Glad to see Rodney and Keller are finally together, but I hope they don't get to relationship-y on us. I don't want Mad About You in space, but since there are only three episodes left, it probably won't be too bad.

I liked it, but mostly for the banter between McKay, Nye, and Tyson. Hilarious stuff!

Oh and Jewel looked gorgeous. Good from me!
