How is the comic? Because the plotline sounds really corny and not in a good way.

Same sort of thing as iZombie -- the upcoming CW series has changed it so that the main character works at a morgue and solves homicides. Procedurals are popular these days, so lots of concepts get turned into procedurals on their path to television. TV execs aren't interested in being faithful to the source, they're interested in making things that will work as TV shows, regardless of what form they had before.

Then again, a lot of shows these days start out as procedurals to satisfy the network suits and to draw in audiences with conventional tastes, but then turn into something much less procedural as they go on. Dollhouse, Orphan Black, arguably Constantine -- once the shows are established, the cozy case-of-the-week formats recede as the elaborate story arcs take over.

I can't help but wonder how much a fit the religous groups are going to throw over a show featuring Lucifer as the protagonist.

As for the show and the comics, I just read through the descriptions of the collected editions on Comixology, and there is no mention anywhere of him working with the police. So I have a feeling this will have very little do with the comics, at least at first.

The comic is great, a spin-off of the Sandman series, and not at all like the premise of this TV show.

I wonder if the police will make a bullet-proof vest for Lucifer that has "DEVIL" written on it.

I might have to check out the new Inspector Gadget. It's one of the few kids shows I actually have fairly clear memories of from my childhood.

Community's Dany Pudi has been cast as the lead in Strange Calls". If anyone is interested they do have the original Aussie series on Hulu.

I liked Rila Fukushima in The Wolverine and Arrow, so I am glad she's getting a more high profile gig, but I am disappointed that we'll probably be seeing a lot less of her on Arrow.

I'm liking the word "anthology" is being bandied about but all this business with "Darkside Events" sounds like the show will be more of a semi-anthology like Route 66 or the Fugitive than a modern version of the original series.

Yeah, that makes it sound like he'll have an arc that runs through the episodes. So I wonder if the focus will be on him or the other episode specific actors?
