SF&F Avatar Contest - "Death"

Status
Not open for further replies.
Regarding the Doctor Who exception:

Superman, Spock, Bill and Ted and others all sort of came back, and regeneration has often been referred to as 'death' (or related words thereof):

"I was dead too long this time, it nearly destroyed the regenerative process".

"Killed by an insect!" etc.

So I think regenerations should count....

Ok, sorry, I was thinking that once a Time Lord is actually dead it's too late to regenerate. The rule is that the character actually has to die. So you can't use any regeneration, only those where the Doctor is actually fully dead.

Hm, would "living death" count?

Not sure exactly what you mean by that, exactly. The walking dead (zombies, Frankenstein's monster, Owen Harper in Torchwood S2) don't count. The theme isn't "the dead", but rather death, as in the process, or Death personified. Anyway, show me what you're thinking of and I'll let you know if it's ok.

Ghosts/spirits don't count. Ghosts and spirits come post-death.

Could you tell me who that is?

The undead don't count, sorry.

I really should have been more clear in the OP. ;)

Could you tell me who that is? [//quote]

This is not a particular character...it's the grim reaper, the personifcation of death, and instead of weilding a scythe, he's been updated to weild the tool of death in military combat. It's teh cover of a G.I. Joe issue, the number of which escapes me at the moment. Ever since I was a kid, this image was been one of the most striking I have seen in a comic book, and I never forgot it.

Ok, it's cool then.

The theme for this contest is Death. No real limitations.

I guess we all got confused here then. There are limitations?

Only that the avatar has to depict death. The death of a character, or death personified. An image of a vampire doesn't depict death.

Would not a ghost be death personified?

Not that I particularly care, I don't want to win. I just had an idea and felt like throwing it out there. :p

^well, considering my vampire, who is dead doesn't count, Wesley, who is only mostly dead, wouldn't count either. :(

Great av though! :techman:

I'll sit out this one as I still don't really get the concept.

I think a bit too much time is being spent in the thick of thin things rather than having fun.

But I didn't win last week's contest so it's not up to me ;)
