Fact: 100% of Italians in this thread voted "sexy".
Well, I said the whole thing sounded very "French." Sounded very Italian might have worked as well, but, in my opinion, this was a bit on the subtle side for Italians dealing with Americans.
I forget if I posted this before (not to hijack the thread TSQ), but when I was studying for a month in Siena, one of the girls on the trip went to a bar where she had a conversation with an Italian guy for a couple of hours. The details of exactly what happened then are vague, but, either way, he shows up to her hotel with flowers the next day (he probably saw which hotel she lived at). She was very shocked by this and wanted to know why he did this. She explained the whole story in Italian and ended with "Perché? Perché?" The Professor responded by saying "Perché le ragazze americane sono molto facile."

Anyway, this question started as "sexy or too forward." It has been transformed into "sexy vs. criminal assault" and that's probably why TSQ thinks most people are being absurd (sorry if I'm putting words in your mouth). It's a moment that only happens in the movies.
