Seven of Nine is back in ST: Picard

Late to the discussion as I don't frequent the Voyager forum very often. I love what Picard did with Seven of Nine. I love that she's made it her mission to help those who can't help themselves, just like Janeway helped her when she couldn't help herself.

With episode 8, "Broken Pieces", Seven of Nine officially eclipsed Kira Nerys in my book as the most badass woman in all Star Trek. "WE ARE BORG!" *shivers*

I think she looks so much better in her ranger garb (as she did in the one time she wore a Starfleet uniform) than she ever did in that silly cat suit.

It sounds like a mix of emotions. Makes sense to me, even in reference to Bjayzl.

Yeah. Even if Seven wanted Bjayzl dead for good reasons, there still had been something between them. Seven might still have wished Bjazyl had been a different person, that what she thought existed had been real.

Seven is a bad ass in ST:Picard. I like her in her rangers suit but I still think that she was amazing in a Starfleet uniform, though I don't think she would have followed rules and protocols if she has still worn one in the future. So maybe it is alright if she totally chosed to leave any potential future in Starfleet behind.

You're here, you like Voyager.

But, do you like that Seven is on Picard? I've gotten the impression that everybody thinks it's a good thing Seven appears on Picard.

I love that Seven is on Picard and that in the last 20 odd years she has changed so much from the woman we once knew. :klingon:

I can't wait for TPTB to color in her early years in the Alpha quadrant so we can glimpse her transition from Janeway protege to FENRIS Ranger. :vulcan:

Why does this board automatically capitalize all the letters in FENRIS?

Seven is a top 10 Trek character for me, maybe top 5, but I don't find her story very interesting in Picard.

It's fantastic that she's back in Picard, but I feel a lot of the character is missing. They just turned her into a bad ass action hero

Anyone else sense that Seven was depressed, and feel bad about the comment she had made about shooting herself with a phaser? This Seven is broken and needs help. Hope they bring her back next season. She is more interesting than Picard himself.

What if you're a VGR fan but not into TNG? Does it make sense to watch the new 'Picard' series even if Seven is there if you're not interested where 'Picard' series came from?

I'm a TNG fanatic and occasional VGR viewer. I haven't watched 'Picard' so far, don't know how that's going to turn out.

Her people are feared and hated. Voyager was one crew of people who treated her nicely and then she came back to the alpha quadrant where people hunt down XB's and mutilate them for parts (including Icheb who she considered her child). It's a grim world she came into.

I'm curious what's become of the other Voyager crew. And if Janeway, Tuvok and B'Elanna are safe since they're XB's too.

yes. I am a fan of VOY but not TNG and I like PIC just fine, however...

...based on your responses in the thread you started in the PIC forum I don't think you will like this series.
And with all the time you have spent questioning others about the series you probably could have watched it twice over. :)

I was interested what a VGR fan might think about having Seven together with Picard if that VGR fan wouldn't be interested in TNG for some weird reason. :)

Yes and no...

No, that comment she made to Elnor was in reponse to his "the ex-Borg would be better off dead". So she said, "what about me, I'm an exB, too should I kill myself?" She was trying to make a point. And it worked.

That said, I do think she is somewhat broken and depressed (not to the point of being suicidal), but I hope being part of the new Picard collectve will make her feel better. The final scene looked like it.

I'm watching Voyager now and almost toward the last four episodes of the series. I really wish it didn't have to end, but like all shows it had to conclude. I really would like to know what happened after they came back home and what the characters would be doing. Seven it seems has evolved a lot in the last 21 years. Her story and adventures since coming to earth would make an interesting tale. Imagine the shock of Seven when she discovered she could of been wearing regular clothes all along.

And will her Borg ingenuity find a way to throttle a hologram?

SEVEN: "I'm an xB. Ihave no home. I don't belong anywhere. Am I better off dead?"

That line worries me.

Because I am a "Voyager", I remember this line from season 4's finale, "Hope and Fear".

SEVEN: ".... I dont know where I belong."
JANEWAY: "You belong with us."

And this one from early season 7, "Imperfection"

TORRES: I think you are a little more memorable than you give yourself credit for, you don't need the collective to validate your existence. You have made an impact on every member of this crew.

And later in the same episode...

JANEWAY: You haven't failed, Seven (in developing her individuality). You've exceeded my expectations. You have become an individual, an extrordinary individual. If I am having trouble accepting your (terminal) condition, it's only because I don't want to lose a friend.

Things I am worried about if Seven truly feels she has no home, that she doesnt belong anywhere, I worry that B'Elanna and maybe even Tom were on Mars when it was incinerated. I dont worry about the EMH. Obviously he was put on ice, either in Zimmerman's legacy laboratory or Janeway's jewelry box (at least his program in the mobile emitter was put there). I also don't worry about Chakotay. This many years later, he may be dead, or just an xB's exboyfriend, but what happened between her and Janeway? Did their relationship break apart when she became a FENRIS Ranger, or when she went primal looking for revenge after Icheb died?

I don't know what happened, but I am glad TPTB didn't give the Admiral Clancy role to Admiral Janeway. THAT would have been unacceptable.

Ah, I see. Well, the "us" probably kind of dissolved when they returned and began new lives scattered across the alpha quadrant. But I, too, wonder what became of Janeway's regard for Seven. Didn't she once promise her to take her to her hometown in Indiana? Anyway, my guess is they had a fallout of some sort. Or mabe once Seven was with Chuckles, she became such a dull conversationalist that Janeway just couldn't stand it anymore?

In my headcanon everyone else is fine. Tuvok is with his family on Vulcan, Chakotay has joined some fellow trees... you only need to worry for them if and when they show up on Picard!

Agree about Janeway. But she's a pencil pusher now, not much interesting stuff you could do with her... unless she got demoted back to captain.

As for the "xBs" Janeway et al... They were only assimilated for a short time and bear no visual reminders, much like Picard, so I suppose they are safe. Not much to be harvested, if anything.

Re: The other Voyager xB's, Janeway, Torres and Tuvok. I agree they don't have enough BORG implants to attract BORG harvesters like B'Jazl. If they did then her BORG sniffer reptile aka Mr Vupt would have set off his BORG ALERT alarm when Admiral Picard beamed into the club.

Janeway did promise to bring Seven to her hometown in Bloomington, Indianna. In fact she did it in the same season 7 ep, "Imperfection", that sourced 2 of the 3 quotes I used in my last post.

Certainly, the relationship between Seven and Chakotay could have made it difficult to maintain her friendship with Seven. Didn't Picard have a similar problem with Beverly and Jack Crusher?

After rewatching the series this weekend, I am glad to announce that Raffi did indeed have "a conversation" with Seven in which she expressed her wonder at and respect for what the FENRIS Ranger was trying to do in the lawless far reaches of the Federation..

The "us" broke apart after Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant.

Seven is on her own now.

The problem is that at the Voyage's return to the AQ Janeway has maybe 1) underestimated the detestation cause by Borgs and 2)
idealized the situation the lost crew was going to find. Result: Seven
not feeling welcome, not being able to find her marks despite the presence of her friends and to end, discovering what the actions of Federation taken after the Dominion War, including against people like her, and absolutely not sharing them, she decided to finally
take charge of her destiny (the more precious gift Janeway and the Doctor offered her: the right to dispose of herself as she pleased, once back on Earth. However, I would have wished that Janeway & the Doctor being a constant presence to help her, even remotely.

Honestly, I'd be thrilled if Janeway made an appearance in Picard when Seven is around. The Doctor will be back next season, so why not her other mentor?!
