Seth McFarlane wants to Reboot Trek on TV

Nobody with a half decent concept for a space show series is going to convert it into Star Trek because that would mean immediately losing control and power over it. No amount of money is worth that. Plus having to deal with the people on these boards?

^ What do you mean 'having to deal with the people on these boards'? They have absolutely no dealings whatsoever with the likes of us! We're not even a pimple on their collective butt!

If they're really casting Khan and they think he needs to be played by a Latino actor, then I may have to join you on the Official JJ Abrams Bashing Squad (OJABS, I like that acronym!) Because that is really stupid and also maybe racist but mainly just stupid. :rommie:

Watch out Temis.... the general decree is that there will be no JJ Abrams bashing tolerated on the TrekBBS.

Well I'm probably going to the movie, mainly out of curiosity. I have to say I'm on the doubting side of the Abrams topic. I just want to see how a remake of Khan turns out.

I hope you're very young, because this next movie, with the help of God, will NOT have Khan! Maybe in 30 years, okay, but not now. :)

Nah, just the same bitching that is done over and over and over and over again about the same things that everyone is tired about in any thread even the ones that have nothing to do with Trek XI which has been going on for the past two years.

It is to me. I'll sell out for one beelion dollars American.

Plus having to deal with the people on these boards?
With one beelion dollars American, you can hide out from the internet trollz.

Oh wait, you can do that with no money too. :rommie:

Not until I make it cool, that is.

If I have something to do with Star Trek, then you can address me. Otherwise, don't.

I can't wait for the moderators to see these responses.

This is the best thread outside of TNZ today. :rommie:

I've seen a couple sci fi threads pop up in TNZ but they're kinda boring. People talking about old movies and bitching that there's "no sci fi on TV" when of course there is a fair amount. We can do better!

Will the people who keep going on about how McFarlane would be good for doing a prime timeline show please actually read the thread tittle which says he wants to do a REBOOT not a continuation of the old stuff.

Of course. No creative person who's really capable of helming a show like this would return to the strictures of oldTrek now that they've been successfully overthrown, nor would the studio support that.

Well, except maybe as animation...mainly because of the vastly smaller investment.

What about me being young? I grew up with the old Khan and would be curious about seeing a modern interpretation for better or worse. And we already got a remake of Kirk, Spock and McCoy so remaking Khan would be no big deal. I don't know how long you think a franchise is supposed to be dormant before a remake, but doesn't have to be 60 years.

Sorry, did I miss an official announcement that Khan is going to be in the next film?

Khan may be in the next film, just as Kirk and Spock and Pike and Sarek were in the last film.

There will be lots of new versions of familiar characters in nuTrek. Some people will bitch, but some people bitch about the new version of the Enterprise, too - and none of it has any effect at all; oldTrek is still finished. ;)

Reasonable, if true, since "bashing" is pretty much by definition a provocative and stupid waste of time.

I think Abrams and Co are having great time knowing that by casting a Hispanic actor, rumors of Khan will surface.:guffaw:

Yeah, except that they don't cast people in order to start rumors. That, and such rumors buy the production nothing if they turn out to be false - they have absolutely no need for publicity whatever at this point in pre-production, after all.

This has more to do with reports from a couple of news sites that they've been told by people on the inside that Khan is the villain than it does with rumors based on ethnicity.

I think the rumors are a side effect. They seem to want a Hispanic actor for what ever role they are casting. Might be Khan, I don't know. In the last movie they cast an West Asian as a Hispanic character, so turnabout is fairplay.:p

That's why I try not to bash. But even when I offer what I think are valid criticisms of the movie, there are usually some people who gladly jump down my thought. That's why I do it so rarely.
