News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

I know this is sacrilege (and something I dare not say on in the Discovery forum), but I haven't looked forward to a show on a weekly basis the way I do The Orville, since probably season four of TNG.

Definitely bummed there is no new episode this week.

I feel the same way, only just TNG in general and not any specific season. I've enjoyed this show more than I thought I would.

More synopses for upcoming episodes:

Majority Rule
When two Union anthropologists go missing on a planet similar to 21st century Earth, Ed sends a team led by Kelly to find them, but the mission quickly goes awry when they realize the society's government is completely based on a public voting system to determine punishment.

Into the Fold
Ed and the crew set out to save Dr. Finn, her two sons and Isaac after their shuttle gets thrown into uncharted space and they crash-land on a moon that is light years from the Orville.

Looking forward to this. We are getting our very TOSish "parallel earth" story. The summary also reminds me a bit of TNG's "Who Watches the Watchers". The penal system reminds me of the TNG ep where Wesley accidentally violates the crazy judicial system on a planet.

Sounds a bit like the TOS episode "Galileo Seven" and TNG's "The Enemy".

Sounds like fun, I look forward to seeing how they handle one of these Earth like planets.

I'm glad to see Dr. Finn getting her own episode.

Rip off! ;)

TV by the Numbers says this about delayed viewing:
“The Orville” is putting up pretty good delayed-viewing numbers over the course of its first season on FOX.

The show’s Oct. 5 episode more than doubled its adults 18-49 rating with a week of DVR and on-demand viewing, rising from 0.9 to 2.1. That’s a growth of 133 percent, tying for the top percentage gain of the week with “Designated Survivor.”

And here is the most recent renew/cancel index.

Dunno. The ways of network programmers are mysterious.

I think the show is scheduled to complete its run this year - they're nearly half way through, and will almost certainly break for American Thanksgiving.

Heh, sweeps. People still care about that? Especially with so many successful shows that have "non-traditional" seasons.

Yeah, ad rates are largely based on sweeps so broadcast networks and sponsors care very much about them.

Now, I'm not sure how to read this chart - but if it says what it appears to, then The Orville is doing very well streaming on Hulu:
