News Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville

I think I will pull out the old VHS copies of Quark, that was funnier.

Yeah, no.

Looks interesting, I don't have the kind of problem with live action Seth as others apparently. Liked him "A Million Ways To Die In The West" and he looks okay in this. Not a fan of his cartoons though. Would like a good long running sci-fi comedy and I hope this can deliver. Sadly I don't think it will and that show name certainly isn't going to help.

I didn't laugh until about halfway through the trailer, but there were a few good ones once I did. I'm looking forward to this.

Not having seen this thread I found the trailer on YouTube and my initial reaction was 'Really? Is this a real show?'
Once I'd decided it probably was, I enjoyed the trailer. The angle seems to be "Star Trek, but funny" rather than "Star Trek parody" exactly, which given that it's meant to be an ongoing series is probably a good thing. Although it'll be interesting whether CBS consider imitation the sincerest form of flattery.
The only bit I genuinely laughed at was the blob crewmember, but there's potential there. I'll give it a go.

I generally like McFarlane but the trailer and photos just look bland to me. I didn't laugh once during the trailer, all the gags were so predictable and safe. :(

I would wager "mass appeal" being the reason behind that. They're going to go with broad, safe humor to start off, and hopefully we'll see Seth engage in the nerdery I know he's capable of.

Saw the trailer, looks like something worth giving a shot. Already a fan of American Dad!, though I've never thought much of MacFarlane's live action work.

Just saw the trailer. Looks really cool and hopefully has no laughing track. The ship itself needs to be a model soon.

The visual design is pure TNG, although it looks a bit budget-limited.
I like the set lighting, very "TNG". Modern Sci-fi tv shows usually prefer more dark tones (Even "Enterprise").

This is probably what I am most looking forward to about this show. We've had a lot of star trek parodies, some were funny but they were basically just short skits that made fun of Star Trek. I've always wondered what a true Star Trek show with a comedic element would look like. We are finally getting that!

Yeah, the ship design is absolutely beautiful!!

Looks pretty cool to me. Also looks pretty small, something like Kirk's ship.

I liked the visual effects a lot but the ship model doesn't appeal to me that much. I prefer more utilitarian.

The sets look alright but very flat and empty. It's just a floor with some chairs on it.
