No. There was only one large model of the refit, which was repainted and relabeled to be the -A.
If they were balancing small bowls of pudding along the saucer rim, I could see that as abuse. But if you paid a ton of money for something as awesome as the movie Enterprise shooting model, why not show it off at a party?
Sure. Show it off flying over the crowd - great. Show it as a special piece on the wall, lights blazing - great.
Put it on top of the fruit bowl? Abuse!
Oh! So that's what happened to the Enterprise-A after it was decommissioned at the end of Star Trek VI!
Admiral to Captain Kirk: "She is to be decommissioned, Kirk. Now accept it."
Kirk: "Will she be placed in the Fleet Museum, Sir?"
Admiral (evilly smirking): " Nah. We will shrink her down, and use her as a centrepiece at local buffets, where she will watch over the desserts for years to come."
...and somewhere, if you listen carefully, you will hear Khan laughing from beyond the grave, his revenge complete, and pronouncing...
"Ah Kirk, my old friend ... revenge truly is a dish that is best served cold."

Aww Jesus Christ. That's not the way such a model should be handled.

I don't think that's abuse. That's nerd rage.
Now, if you removed the bridge module to find nacho cheese dip, then maybe I could see THAT as being abuse.
I love the Star Trek models. I hate model abuse.

Word in the modeling community is that these are probably pics from the TMP-DE premier party - many years before the Christie's auction.
I think it's pretty awesome, actually. I don't see it as disrespectful or anything of the sort.
If that's the original, real model, how did they get something that snapped the axle on Lucasfilm's flatbed truck up onto a flimsy fiberboard picnic table? And without immediately destroying the table?
