ROFL!!!!!!! :guffaw::rofl::guffaw::rofl::guffaw:

If that's the original, real model, how did they get something that snapped the axle on Lucasfilm's flatbed truck up onto a flimsy fiberboard picnic table? And without immediately destroying the table?

Maybe their truck sucked? There's no way that model weighs anywhere close to the couple tons it'd take to stress even an average truck's load weight.

Douglas Trumbull's model is made out of stainless steel. And it's eight feet long.

And stainless steel is a fairly light metal.

If that thing snapped the axle of a pickup truck maybe the next time they realized that using the intern's Ford Ranger wasn't a good idea and used, you know, a full-ton truck?

Yes, it's much better enjoyed and respected locked in a room somewhere in the dark by itself!

I'm not going to argue with you. Considering the stories I've heard about the thing snapping cables and swingarms on cranes both at Paramount and Skywalker ranch, and the fact that the Lucasfilm crew rented a Caterpillar so they could use the trailer to transport the beast, I'm quits. Believe what you want.

That probably is from the DE party, as there is what looks like a couple of trophies underneath it, probably awards for the film/effects work or something.

Although, If I had the model? You can bet i'd haul that baby out for everything. Party? Yup. Christmas? Yup. Birthday? Yup. Admiring it from the loo? Yup. Whats the point of spending 100 thousand dollars on something like THE goddamn Enterprise and not exhibiting it to the world for all to see?

I seriously doubt they just set it on a table. More likely on it's own stand, with tables placed around it.

Come on now! You can argue better than that! :techman:

That's why we're all here, right? To argue about Trek on the internet? [looks around]
