Seskas Baby

Sloan

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
Just a question to throw out there

Anyone ever wonder what happend to Seskas baby a half Cardassian left to be taken care of and raised by the Kazon?

Wonder what the appearence would look like, would make for an interesting novel!

I often wonder about Seska's baby and I feel kind of sad for him.. though the Cardassians as well as being strong are very intelligent and I think he could easily end up a great leader. My sadness comes from him never knowing who he is and anything about his heritage. Would they even bother to tell him much about Seska's species? Since she was a woman perhaps they would deem it unimportant.

I would definitely like to read a great novel about his life with the sequel being his discovery that his mother was from a mysterious Alpha quandrant race and his search to learn more. I nominate James Swallow of the first Terok Nor novel to write it.

He'd probably be an outcast by most Kazon. We don't know what Cullah will tell him about why he looks different, like the spoony thing and craving drinks made out of reptilian eggs.

This pretty much sums up my feelings, too. :)

He'll be an outcast that rises up to rule like Shinzon. If a puny sick human could somehow negotiate a coup against the Romulan Empire than Seska's baby could unite the Kazon factions and begin a great empire of his own. His mystery species would be the subject of much conjecture.

Cardassians are family orientated. I think it would be interesting to see Seska's brother having survived the Dominion War, trying to hitch a ride with one of the Federation slip stream ships to go in search of the boy.

Considering the damage inflicted on Cardassia by the Founders, Seska's brother might think he was the only surviving member of his family. It's possible that he learned of Seska's death and son after Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant.

^Or before. I'm sure Doc mentioned Seska to Starfleet in Message in the Bottle. The fact they had a Cardassian spy aboard isn't something one should dismiss. Of course, at that point, the Federation was fighting the Cardies.

Orphans are outcasts in Cardassian society. If they have no parents, no other family will be likely to take them in, and they end up in orphanage. Besides, I doubt they would be keen on a half-Kazon baby.

Maybe in a new, more enlightened Cardassian society, if such eventually emerges after the Dominion war, but even if it does, that would take time.

Unless that kin is all that's left. Attitudes can change pretty quickly when you have nothing left what so ever.

Just look at the devastation of New Orleans, and then think about that as world wide devastation, only much much worse. Cardassia's cities were leveled. Look at how quickly the survivors left New Orleans and then think about how Cardassians would spread out across that area of space just looking for a chance to survive. Then think about how long it has taken for people to return to New Orleans. That's the best correlation I can make, the change in attitude was enormous and most likely permanent.

He will be outcast to most Kazon. I wouldn't be surprised if Culluh abandoned him somewhere at some point. Culluh won't make a big deal out of his mother.

I think that is entirely possible, but there is one more thing you should consider. In all likelyhood Cullah would be cast out too for his failures. I don't think it helps the baby much but I think that Cullah wouldn't be a problem.

At least with Seska's baby we have an inkling that he will be raised in Kazon society by Cullah. I'm more interested in the Borg baby they save from the Collective in the episode "Collective." The baby is saved along with Icheb, Mezoti, Azan, and Rebi.

However, after The Doctor saves his life in Sickbay, we never see or hear anything about him ever again.

I wish Voyager had saved the baby and eventually returned him to Seska's family, assuming she had any.
Now that would be kidnapping a child from the father.

(Not to mention that they didn't even know if they'd ever return to the Alpha Quadrant, let alone locate Seska's family, if she even had one.)

To note something ...
Culluh was quite fond of Seska and was involved with him.
That's his son, and I don't think that as a Maje, he's allow his son to become an outcast.

Oh it's possible that they would actually overthrow Culluh due to his failures, then again, Voyager caused a stir among all Kazon sects and managed to 'best' them all.

Voyager novels could deal with this actually, since the ship (fully upgraded) is now back in the DQ and with several other SF ships as a backup.
The Vidiians no longer have the desire to hunt other species down for their organs, and they might even prove as a shaky ally to SF due to the doctors previous relationship with Denarra Pel (theoretically speaking of course, if she's still alive).

Voyager shouldn't have taken Seska's baby. The baby was Maje Cullah's child and they would have had not right. As for Seska's family, the crew of Voyager thought Seska was Bajoran and her she would not have had a Starfleet record so tracing her family may have been difficult.

The Borg Baby was female.

JANEWAY: What's the emergency?
EMH: I thought you should see for yourself. Somebody left a bundle on our doorstep. I turned around and there she was, lying on a bio-bed.
JANEWAY: Seven must have beamed her here.
EMH: Good thing, too. A few more minutes and I wouldn't have been able to do anything for her. It's hard to believe she could grow up to be a drone. Hold her for a moment while I take some readings. Ah, I guess she just wanted to be held.

Remind me - did the Doc tell Cullah that the baby was his? Or did Cullah know that anyway? I just remember Seska telling everyone that it was Chakotay's baby in front of him, (she'd told Cullah Chakotay had raped her) and she seemed genuinely surprised that the baby wasn't half human, but I haven't seen Basics for a while. Was Cullah enlightened? That could make a big difference to the baby's future.

I do remember Cullah looking protective of him at the end when he takes him away.
