Serious Major Question That Needs Answering At All Costs

Ya know when ships are in battle and the ship loses power, and do ya know in DS9 when the Breen fired the dampening weapon and the Defiant and the rest all lost power.............................well.........................

Why is the artificial gravity never effected? even the slightest power fluctuation or loss of power should wreak havoc with the artificial gravity so what gives?

1) They might wear magnetic materials in their boots just in case.

2) Budget, cost more money to show no gravity. TUC had that budget, the TV shows don't.

Same reason the life support and lights doesnt immeadiately give, or isn't a concern? I'm guessing artificial gravity doesnt take much power to run, since even a Bajoran Solar Sail vessel can run gravity plating when modified with the correct technology.

Perhaps the gravity plates are self-powered and don't interact with the main power systems.

When I read the thread title I thought the only possible content of the thread, the only question that could ever be that urgently important could be:

"Would you like any toast?"

I also remember reading something in a tech manual that said that the gravity plate use hundreds of tiny spinning disks, so the inertia would keep the gravity on for a little while after a power loss. This is in conflict with one episode of Voyager where they immediately lose gravity on one deck after a power loss.

^Yeah, the Voyager writers never read the manual.

It's worth noting that in TOS artificial gravity would regularly drop to 'point eight'. Whenever they needed damage reports they would have a series of pre taped voices playing in the background, and artificial gravity reports was one of them.

I would think artificial gravity would be a top priority system, and well protected. It would be near impossible to repair and defend the ship without it. The same reason why life-support or the lights rarely fail.
