Series 7 Box set

Just in time for a Christmas gift for a DW fan, though I suspect they would much rather wait for the complete season boxset.

Yeah, I'm recording the episodes as they air, so that will be plenty good until I can buy the complete box set next year.

The full season box sets have more special features than the half season sets, right?

I'm watching the show via Amazon Instant View so I can wait for the complete set.

I was going to say yes but I think this is the fist time they have done a half season set.

The individual discs they have previously done have no extras though I think.

They did half season for series 6 too I thought and then released a complete box set after.

There were half sets for season 6 at least. Not sure about the earlier seasons. I didn't get into WHO until shortly after the full season 6 release.

I hope they retain the artwork for the complete season because I like how iconic that Dalek one is.

Yeah, the half seasons sets for S6 only had "Monster Files" for its bonus features, while the box set had commentaries, behind the scenes specials and of course those "Night" shorts.

However, the inividual release of A Christmas Carol had the 2010 Proms Special, which was not included in the box set. Interestingly ebough, the 2008 Proms Special was on the individual release of The Next Doctor, but left out of the box set for the 2009 Specials.

I'm pretty sure the 2008 Proms was in the Specials Box Set, because that's all I have and I remember watching it.

Except the 2 "prequel" episodes in the S5 set, I'm really not interested in any extras. Outside of deleted scenes (in general, not DW), I never have been.

Plus I'm terrible at waiting, so these 1/2 season sets are just about perfect. And the prices are almost reasonable at around $24 total per set.

They're actually catering to everyone's tastes this way.

In R1, Seasons 2-5 are only available as complete season sets. But they did experiment with releasing Season 1 as both a complete season and as 4 separate single-disc volumes.

Those would have been the "vanilla" releases which even seasons 2-5 had in the UK. Also worte mentioning R1 had individual releases of the 2009 specials plus a box set of them.
