Series 6 teaser!

Also, remember that piece you linked to is dated from 29th August 2010. Over six months ago and things change, maybe that's how Moffat originally envisaged it, but since then, both himself and the Beeb have said it's just one season split into two.

That's the point. He changed his mind half-a-dozen times about whether last year was Series 5 or Series 1, so who knows when he'll change it agian!

Building the set for any old era would be cost prohibitive.

Nah, not at all actually. The old sets are very cheap in modern terms. Compared to the budget of the new show, it wouldn't cost much to make one of the old control rooms.

But, I don't expect one to appear although it would be neat!

I'm not sure, the whole Idris or River is the TARDIS thing seems like an idea from The Forgotten comic series. Smith's first series already borrowed the concept of an evil Doctor who is in fact some parasitic small monster from The Forgotten comics, so who knows...

^ LOL. Don't mean too...just confused. We keep getting contrasting information from posters on this board lol.

You take to much stock in what is normally just someones opinion.

The BBC and Moffat have said it's season six split in two and they are the only people you should be listening to.

Of course, I am expecting the BBC PR machine to say that the second half of the season in October/November time is season 7 as that would look better promotionally.
I'm going with whatever 2|Entertain calls the two DVD sets. They're the ones with the most interest in what to call the season(s), since they're the ones who have to sell it.

And since they've already announced the first DVD set as "Series 6 Part 1," that presumes a "Series 6 Part 2." So, we're in Battlestar territory here.

I just can't wait to see how much they try to charge for a 6 or 7 episode DVD/blu-ray set

If the Amazon UK listing is anything to go by, slightly less than half of what the Series 5 boxset went for.

My understanding is that there's going to be a complete Series 6 boxset with extras. The Part 1/Part 2 releases are supposed to replace the UK barebones DVDs.

^ That's gonna be a tough call. I don't usually care for extras, but the two bonus scenes were nice to have in all their blu-ray glory.

But then, I hate to wait.

On the other hand....

I've actually been thinking about this a lot recently. IDW's The Forgotten and Big Finish's Zagreus both featured manifestations of TARDIS in a familiar appearance as The Doctor's most faithful companion (although I admit I didn't think of the connection between The Forgotten and "Amy's Choice"). I'm sure the books and comic strips have also covered this idea so it wouldn't be too surprising if the show itself finally picked up on it. The more I think about it, the more I'm believing that Idris is TARDIS in some form. I'm not sure who or what River is but I don't think she has anything to do with the TARDIS.

Man I would squee myself into unconciousness if they did a classic console room. It'd be almost as epic as having an old Doctor turn up.
It wouldn't be that tough. As you guys said it was a pretty simple set. And aren't there still a few old console repproductions still floating around out there somewhere?

Though I think I'd rather see it as part of a CiN, Christmas special, or *gasp* 50th anniversary episode.

Assuming the Doctor's little talk to Amy, Rory, and River comes right before the materialization (in other words, the sequence of events as we see it in the trailer), I suspect that the TARDIS was there, but somehow cloaked. Maybe River visited a Romulan Warbird and absconded with their cloaking device? :)
Personally, I think that it may be a materialisation with the stabilisers on. I thought that I hreard the "engines off" sound effect there.

Depends on which set they use-the TARDIS console room went through many variations in the classic series, at least until "The Five Doctors" where it pretty much stayed the same for the rest of the show up to "Greatest show in the Galaxy" (In Battlefield it was being torn down, hence the dark lighting).

This isn't the first time the materialization's been a bit weird. In one classic story (A Pertwee I believe) they didn't have enough money to do the materializeation, so the TARDIS just 'popped' out!

maybe its the other 10th Doctor, in the Lodger TARDIS

It's Rory being shield by Amy

it really isnt down to which microsecond of the trailer you are able to pause on.

Still this leads to many interensting questions.

Hello there! This is my theory about the ball of energy inside the 9/10 TARDIS.

I think what we are looking at is a bubble (or gateway)...and inside that bubble is 11's TARDIS. Some of the pics of it are clearer then others, but there seems to be the legs of 11 and in the background, the upper column of the console. Also within the sphere, it looks more like the new TARDIS walls then 9/10's. Maybe 11 will be urging Amy and Rory to come through...or maybe, this bubble/gateway will expand and envelop the 9/10 TARDIS "correcting" whatever caused the displacement. God only knows what that'll be....yet.

Just some thoughts. But definitely look closer at some of the still frames here. Squint, scratch your heads, squint and look again.
