Series 6 teaser!

Why are we putting stills from the trailer in spoiler quotes?

Oh well, I'll do it too.

What's this building?

Does anyone wonder if it might be the TARDIS outside of its box?

I like that idea, but it is way too small, unless the Doctor has just jettisoned every other bit of the TARDIS off by now, cause really it should be a lot bigger, he did afteral say there is still a swimming pool in there, in the library or something, so its probably still bigger than that pic is showing, unless it is a different TARDIS, like the lodger one.

Actually, that's the same building that appeared in "The Pandorica Opens," where River Song meets with the blue alien who gives her a vortex manipulator - the Maldovarium in 5145.

Okay, I'll chime in with some speculation. I'm gonna say that the alien junkyard is some sort of Time Lord void dump, where debris from the Time War got sent. I mean, there's gotta be some cleanup, you know, and Idris is a character from the Doctor's past that got trapped there with it. The Doctor goes there to rescue her; the lit up box in his hands what we've seen pictures is the item from The War Games that reappears, and that picture is him receiving her distress signal.

Rory and Amy are either in the TARDIS itself in the picture in that console room or are wandering about in the debris and wander into another TARDIS. I'm inclined toward the former, not the latter.

^^ Do we have any idea if that episode(s) is first or second half?

I'm already goin' crazy waiting for this to start.

Everything we've seen in these trailers are in the first half. They haven't started filming the second half yet.

They're almost done filming the second half. And Mark Gatiss' story, which is in the second half, was one of the first episodes filmed.

The BBC America trailer seems to be weighted more toward the first half of the year.

The BBC1 trailer has stuff from the second half of the year, like the creepy dolls (Gatiss' story) and the depressed clown.

I stand corrected. :o

In fact, I knew about Gatiss' episode being moved and I didn't even think of that. I wonder why I thought they hadn't started filming the second half...

Excellent idea!

The more I watch it, the less I like the delivery of the Time Lord line. It feels like Matt Smith took the piss too much, or was being too much of a smart alec.

^ LOL. Don't mean too...just confused. We keep getting contrasting information from posters on this board lol.

You take to much stock in what is normally just someones opinion.

The BBC and Moffat have said it's season six split in two and they are the only people you should be listening to.

Of course, I am expecting the BBC PR machine to say that the second half of the season in October/November time is season 7 as that would look better promotionally.

I'm going with whatever 2|Entertain calls the two DVD sets. They're the ones with the most interest in what to call the season(s), since they're the ones who have to sell it.

And since they've already announced the first DVD set as "Series 6 Part 1," that presumes a "Series 6 Part 2." So, we're in Battlestar territory here.

"The wrong expression would be to say we are splitting it in two. We are making it two separate series."

Who should we be listening to again?

Not you and it seems not me either.

I'm sorry but I take more attention to the creator of a programme or the channel that will be promoting it than some people online which just grasp at straws. - Something I admit doing from time to time, but not all the time and I certainly don't get confussed about it which was what I was perosnally addressing in the first place.

Also, remember that piece you linked to is dated from 29th August 2010. Over six months ago and things change, maybe that's how Moffat originally envisaged it, but since then, both himself and the Beeb have said it's just one season split into two.

BBC gets to say what is a season not the writer, they do the scheduling and Moffats own comments are mixed...

Moffat said the "mid-season finale" would be a "game-changing cliffhanger"

You cannot call something a mid-season cliffhanger and then say what comes after is a different season. The BBC have it made it quite clear that they consider 13 episodes a season of Doctor Who and DVD's will probably be released in split formats and a total format later down the line.

Moffat is just trying to make fans like the changed format better but he should just stick to writing and let the BBC deal with P.R

Awesome, awesome trailer. This series is going to rock very, very hard.

I kept getting distracted by the coral theme talk. All I could think of was, "system restore!"

Maybe River IS the Tardis. ;)

Seriously, they seem so close together even though The Doctor, wether it be 10 or 11, doesnt even know her that well, he still has a closness if not a bond with her even though he barely knows who she is . She could be a physical manifestation of some description (like Rommie from Andromeda) from a very far flung future of the Tardis life span that is trying to guide the doctor of the past to something.

Frak knows, but thats just a bit too far i think. Moff wouldnt do that type of thing, if anything, River is as human, or timelord as they come. im only theorising on a quick lunch break.;)
