Selling your Home

There's quite a bit of jealousy here, whether intentional or unintentional.

I love the idea that lets a mind see people criticize a guy for the way he's presented his position, and assume that the only rational reason for that criticism is that the posters are jealous.

I'd wager that there are people in much better financial situations than Tom who are among those commenting in this thread. Just because they're not scanning their paystubs into their photobucket account to prove it doesn't mean they're envious of his position.

I scanned my paystub and it gave me a "File Not Found" error. :(

I actually did scan my pay stub a few weeks ago to send to a mortgage consultant. She looked at it and basically told me, "No." :(

Well, it was an email...for all I know she had the whole bank laughing and pointing at my pay stub.

It's all good. It wasn't really "No" so much as "not right now." I will be trying elsewhere.

Best of luck to you. Hopefully things will work out.

Mine laughed. That's why I was asking. I was talking to her over the phone after I faxed the paystub to her, and I heard her start to laugh, stifle it with a cough, and then excuse herself for a few moments.

My lady told me one thing one week and told me the complete opposite the next week. I'm not convinced she knows what she's doing. She sends me emails in all lower case, without punctuation, and with statements like "omg sorry i didnt get back to you sooner its been super busy here lol"

Very professional.

Wow. Indeed, a paragon of professionalism with a business acumen to match.

I did say intentional OR unintentional.

Yeah, I don't think that changes anything I said. :shifty:

Some of us are quite aware of our incomes, and still not jealous in any way. Amazing, I know.

I preferred it earlier when you used the correct word; envy.
Most of the people posting on this board have a good standard of living (John aside who just has a heroic attitude to anything that life throws at him). I've posted a picture of my house because we had our annual party and it was a good pic. Were I trying to sell it I certainly wouldn't come on here and complain about how hard it is. It would be like someone complaining that they couldn't sell their Cayenne to buy a Maserati.

It's not about a house, it's about the lack of mobility. His wife has been offered a job somewhere else, and they can't go. The same thing is happening to me. I can't leave here.

It does sound like it would suck but 2 things:

1) His wife CAN go take the job. She needs to get up there pronto if its a better job.

2) They had an offer. It wasn't really bright to shoot it down! At least a counter offfer. It sounds like they fixated on a certain price but they're not going to get it. Not going to happen. They'll have to take what they can get a this point. Maybe consider a short sale?

I really don't think it's about jealousy. I think it's about venting about a negative situation when there are many, many people who are worse off. I'm not saying that people aren't allowed to complain. But you can't be surprised when it rubs someone the wrong way. My husband complains about how much we've lost on our house and I tell him to shut up and thank his lucky stars for all we still have, because so many people have come out much worse. This isn't a "people are starving in Africa" thing, this is about so many people here losing their jobs and homes all around us.

Kestra, that's a very commendable attitude. I'm glad that you can see the best in what is still a difficult situation. Keep working hard and you guys will pull through!

If you add realtor fees if/when we sell, thats a LOSS if we sell at our asking close to $100,000 if not MORE. That is COLD hard numbers. I know some think were swimming in gold and playing with monopoly money, far from the truth. I don't know to many people who can just write a check for that, YOU?

Well, you don't have to write a check for it. You can probably role it into the mortgage you get for the new house instead. Of course, that limits your buying power on the new place to some extent.

The problem is, the house is not WORTH anywhere what we paid for it. We paid $680,000 for it, people who bought a year or two before us in the development they paid closer to $850,000 before the real real estate bust.
Yeah...well...you're screwed there. You're not going to break even unless you want to live there for another 5-10 years.
