Sell a show

This is partly a game, and partly an idea to help us get through the summer hiatus. Hope it works and everyone finds new shows to watch!

1) Think of a show that you like but isn't popular or well known around here.

2) Post a clip that you think would convince the most people to give it a shot.

3) The TrekBBS execs here would then award points for each successful pitch (no need to go into practical considerations like whether the dvds are available or not).

Point Award System:

Shows you are already inclined towards: 1 pt
Shows you are neutral about: 2 pts
Shows you have a bias against: 3 pts

Cool idea, but I'm not sure I can think of a show I like that people here don't already know.

Well, let's see. Most Canadian shows would fit that description :P


Corner Gas. Not many know of it, but the ones who do discover it often find it to be one of the funniest shows on TV. It's Canada's Seinfeld, set in a small town in Saskatchewan. You may be thinking, what's so interesting about a show set in flat country, surely the jokes are flat too? Well, flat is certainly one thing they're not. The cast of characters are great too.

In this clip, the characters try to come up with something unique to draw people to their small town and hilarity ensues. Well, I won't spoil it:

Aw, and I was going to give away 100-dollar vouchers. Oh well, thought it'd be cool. At least I was entertained by Taggart's clip. Nice try but no points though. My bias against sitcoms is just too much for anyone to overcome.

By the way, if anyone wanted to post movie clips, feel free to. I had ideas for a few shows but I just couldn't remember particular scenes well enough to find them on youtube.
