Seismic Activity?

I just remembered something.After the fleet warps to Vulcan,Chekov says that Vulcan high command sent a distress call requesting assistance due to seismic instability.The end.

Did the High Command conveniently forget to add the part about the *seismic instability* being caused by a 5 mile long spacecraft drilling into their planet?
I'd imagine it would be logical to inform the calvary of any negative developments that could impede a rescue...such as a 5 mile long spacecraft drilling into the planet.

we dont know how much time between koybashi maru and kirk being bought up but there could have been a couple of days between this and the attack on vulcan

which as been said soon after the drill started working communication would have been cut out.
if vulcan is like earth now there are seismic sensors
planted all over the planet.
if possible to know something very bad happened before visual confirmation might have been made.

so the sequence could have been ..
drill starts cause seismic event.. communication cut and then the vulcans see what is causing it.

i have also wondered if the opening of the singularity itself may cause an effect on nearby solar systems.

I like this timeline of the events. And as I said earlier, so much happened so fast. One moment Kirk is on trial, half an hour later or so he is parachuting through Vulcan's atmosphere!!! whew..Im tired just thinking about it.
