Spoilers Seeming contradiction between S2 finale and Season 1 (spoilers for S2 finale)

Funny. Does the term "Prime Universe" really mean anything when the writers can just go "it's classified" as an explanation for anything that they do that doesn't fit?

The term had no meaning even before this, other than to differentiate it from the Kelvin universe.

Starfleet had a ship captured, raided and the crew knocked out by Ferengi. Yet 200 years later Picard buys into the monsterous Ferengi cannibal rumour and doesn't know who they are.

Starfleet can bury shit like no one else.

But they never referred to themselves by name, so canon crisis averted!!!!!!!!

And it's great that that somehow also erased all the camera footage, internal sensor data, black box data, tricorder readings, verbal descriptions etc that would have lined up with the intel Picard had on them. ;)

I’m not arguing that ;) But apparently Starfleet’s attitude was “out of sight, out of mind.” Same thing with the Borg, and there were four instances of past contact with them before TNG ;)

Kim and Lippoldt have been writing for the Section 31 show for months, and didn't prepwork for Discovery already begin?

Everyone's got their fantasies. I prefer mine to be fun, but people who are perpetually outraged at what CBSAA is doing seem to find joy in the fantasies that Midnight Edge and Doomcock promote.

There is a difference between critical and being morons like those people.

We don't necessarily know that Starfleet classified everything just because Spock recommends it. I prefer to think Discovery would simply be classified as either missing or destroyed. I would imagine only the spore drive, time travel suit, and control aspects of the mission would be buried. Spock may choose to avoid talking about his sister because her story would be intimately tied to time travel and as a Vulcan, Spock would prefer not to lie.

I can see the time travel suit being buried. We see Dr. Burnham able to create an entire human colony where none existed before using a suit that isn't even working right. All the wrong person has to do is kill Jonathan Archer at the founding of the Federation, or whatever, to wipe out Federation life.

I can't see the spore drive being buried. However, if they never find another tardigrade, they couldn't make one even if they wanted to. And all the tardigrades might have gone into hiding if Ripper went back and told them what Starfleet did to him.

I can't believe that Starfleet won't continue to pursue the God suit technology- it offers the ability to travel through time, instantly transport people from one quadrant of the galaxy to another, disable alien armadas, and who knows what else.

There's a whole lot of super advanced tech which Starfleet comes across or is created by federation scientists, then doesn't appear pursue that it could have.

They never got it working right and Dr. Burnham and Discovery are lost for good because of it. Sarek probably squashed any more attempts to further this tech. It's an Erik Pressman phase cloak situation here, where a lot have to die or be lost to get it right.

Also, after what happened to Pike (and every person Tenavik said left broken), who's going to be the one to volunteer to get the time crystal?
