I don't like the entire 'tough person with a snappy attitude that blows bubblegum' trope.
"This is THE FUTURE! People should be doing FUTURISTIC things! That character should have some sort of weird but cool apparatus hooked up to her face which needs a novel to explain rather doing something dull and pedestrian like chewing gum because FUTURE!!!"
