Section 31 and the Enterprise-C

The Garrett Statue in Picard S3 likely was a coincidence. Matalas didn't even know the Titan was featured Lower Decks when he wrote the scripts, making it extremely unlikely he'd be aware there was a plan to include Garrett in Section 31.
I wonder if this is why we got the Titan-A instead of a live-action Titan from Lower Decks? Quick fix. "Oh, uh... something happened to that Titan, so slap an A on this one and get on with it."

Well, yes, this has been documented before. Matalas fell in love with the Shangri-La class design, had it "modernized," called it a Neo-Constitution class. His intent was that the ship was the Titan which Riker took command of at the end of at the end of Nemesis. But then Paramount decided they wanted coordination between the shows to avoid the situation that occurred where the first seasons of both Picard and Lower Decks basically have the exact same ending, Riker showing up to save the day. Because of this, Matalas learned the Titan was already on Lower Decks and they used the Luna class design from the novels, prompting him to scramble to get some hasty last minute rewrites in to make the ship in Picard S3 the Titan A, some sort of weird combination of new ship and refit and other very contradictory statements.

This makes sense why it's a new ship and a refit, brand new, but 5 years old, Riker's old ship, except that it's not. :cardie:

Could this pull double-duty as a backdoor pilot to an Enterprise-C show?
These days, almost everything is a set up for something else, even if it never happens. Star Trek certainly isn't immune to it.
Section 31 has been in production in some way or another since Mirror Georgiou first appeared.
There's probably a massive to-do list of shows that they have wanted to make but can't. SFA has been in the works for nearly as long too.

Which makes it even funnier that Prodigy season 1 and Picard season 3 have the same fleet-linked-shooting-at-each-other dealie at the end of the season. ...And Lower Decks partially joining in on the fun too in season [edit] 3.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Discovery do that with their 2nd season too? I remember lots of Section 31 ships under the control of..Control

Seasons which have an enemy-controlled fleet of Starfleet vessels as the threat are marked in bold:

Disco S1 S2 S3 S4 S5
Picard S1 S2 S3
Lower Decks S1 S2 S3 S4
Prodigy S1
Strange New Worlds S1 S2 <--- S1 has a remote-controlled fleet, but they're good guys.

DIS S2: because of AI known as control, yes?
PIC S2-3: both times, because Borg.
LD: Haven't seen S3-4, what did I miss?
PRO: the construct, which is basically another AI.
SNW: Maybe in S3?

Is it me, or is AI killing everyone a popular plot device these days?

Blinks in Terminator, Skynet, Hal, The Meta, the Matrix, WALL-E, among others.

It's like all the Trek writers were all in a room together and one person said, "I've got a pretty crazy idea, but hear me out...the artificial Intelligence takes control of the Starfleet ships!"

And then a bunch of them left the room convinced they were the only ones clever enough to run with it.

They're the same ones who watched Picard S3 and the positive impact that SNW and LD had - in fact the whole of 2023 - then thought we need less of that and more of space Hitler.

Hey, AUTO in WALL-E wasn't evil, he was just an accurate depiction of an AI. He was ordered to not let them go to Earth, so he tried to stop them. If he'd been given orders the protagonists liked, there'd be no problem. AUTO is the model we want for AI, something that listens to humans no matter what.

I wouldn't put it past them to atleast put a mention of the Enterprise B being retired or wreaked or destroyed etc. and at the end Garret steps on the Enterprise C Bridge to boldy go.. wherever..

As for the Titan.. Could have just renamed it Yorktown, and have Picard have a "Freind" in Seven instead of Riker.. and got rid of the cringy "Old Titan"stuff.. Solved..

Unlikely. Remember, this movie's script was originally meant to be the pilot episode to a Section 31 series. Presumably Garrett was meant to be main cast of that series, meaning at the end she'd be settling in for more adventures with Georgiou and Section 31, not moving on to command the Enterprise C and effectively be written off.

For me, there's just no reason to rename the Titan-A to another ship. "The Titan-A helped save the Earth! Rename it Enterprise-G ASAP!" :cardie:

I like your idea of revealing the fate of the Ent-B and ending the film with Garrett promoted to Captain of the Ent-C. That'd be pretty sweet. Edited to add, imagine Garrett's off to the Ent-C, and Georgiou's like, "I have bigger plans."

Star Trek: Space Hitler has been around in one form or another since 2018. Yeoh was pushing for a Georgiou show as early as DISCO1

Except, it doesn't listen to humans. The Captain attempts to follow the protocol and Auto blocks it at every chance as well as risks the lives of the crew.
