Second Star Trek Continues vignette online

Very cheesy vignette, but fan-adorable.

Mission accomplished!

The Sulu impression is a tad excessive, but alarmingly within a stone's throw of "the real thing".

The only thing I miss from TOS is Uhura's bouffant, but Dr. Dehner's pageboy will do. ;)

I really thought it was cute, fun and nicely done. Grant was a little over the top, but that's okay. We learn by doing.

It was good. Is it just me, or was it never expressly stated by anyone other than a crazy person that women couldn't be captain. I know the episode intent. I am speaking about what was said by the Star Fleet people. If none of them agreed with her, then it could be argued that there was no such exclusion and that this was yet another part of her psychosis...

I loved the stuff with Uhura, Chekov and Sulu. I thought Grant would do a better Sulu but I don't him that much. :( I find the put on voice kind of too much.

The writing fell apart when Kirk came on and talked to them like Picard. Kirk is not Picard and the writer doesn't seem to know the difference. :/

Dunno, been re-watching some TOS lately and it seems quite fitting in the 60s writing of the time. Grant's Sulu was eerie for sure, I was trying to see if the low voice was trying too hard - but the happy-go-luckiness that defines Sulu in his off-hours was bang on IMO. As for Kirk, he didn't often compliment his junior officers but it also sounds about right, even if Vic's performance was a bit less panto than what we're used to. Liked it.

I wanna play Sulu someday...

Very enjoyable and fun to watch. Although I can't imagine Uhura ever being that silly. Sulu and Chekov yes. But it was still great to watch.

I rewatched the Turnabout Intruder as well as this one together as a double feature. I found them enjoyable. I look forward to a full episode with all that goes with it.

No takers? I am working off memory here. Anyone know for sure?

There have been a lot of discussions about it in other threads. My personal belief is that Janice Lester's rant was directed at Kirk's personal universe as having no room for women in it, but it's pretty much an even split from what I can tell between those who agree with me and those who see it as a blanket statement that there were no female starship Captains.

I imagine, given the time it was written, that the intention was that women couldn't be starship captains. However, it can easily be interpreted the other way, and given the times we live in, I see no compelling reason why we shouldn't retcon it.

Like I've said many times, the only one who makes that claim is Janice Lester, who being psychotic is not a reliable witness. Jim Kirk, who knows her from their past, just chooses not to argue with the crazy person. Can't blame him there.
